Have Optimus V, 2.2 Froyo.  Purchased from Amazon Marketplace.  Downloads OK but when installing, get "Application not installed" message.  Have turned off/on phone but no joy.  Any ideas?

Hi, Mark:

I have no idea for this. Do you contact with Amazon for this?

yes.  Amazon says will try to figure out.  Can download from Amazon but not from android marketplace.  Android marketplace website says not compatible with my phone but have dual processor and Froyo 2.2.  Is there a way to download this program and install outside of marketplace?

I can download your program on the android marketplace.  However, when I try to install,  get "Application not installed" message.  How can I get this program to install on my Optimus V?

Same problem here. I have a T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Slide running stock Android 2.2 (Froyo) from HTC. My phone is not rooted and not running a custom ROM. I currently have 25MB of internal phone storage available and around 3GB of free storage on my SD card. After purchasing the app from the Amazon App Store, it downloads and fails during the install. The only error returned is "Application not installed" which doesn't give me much to go on.

Well, I opened a ticket with Amazon and they said the error I received (Application is Not Installed) is an error with the Android OS and that they cannot support me with the issue. They issued a refund for the application without performing any troubleshooting. It's a real shame as I wasn't looking for a refund. At any rate, Splashtop runs great from my iPad, and if there is anything I can do to help troubleshoot why it wouldn't install on my Android phone I would gladly help and repurchase the app then. Don

Hi Don,

Sorry for reply so later, but I has no idea with the problem.  Can you try to download and install the version of splashtop remote desktop free from google andriod market? Have you bought other APP from Amazon market and installed it successfully?  It seems some settings in Android OS stop the installing, can you check with google in which case the applications can't be installed?

I think I may have figured this out. When I search for Splashtop in the Google Android Market I cannot find it. This usually means my hardware is not supported. However, when I search the Amazon App Store it turns up and I can purchase it, but not install it. I tried this on my T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Slide running unrooted stock Froyo.

I also tried it on my Barnes & Noble Nook rooted with Cyanogenmod 7 and it works perfectly (I went ahead and purchased it again). So, I am up and running Splashtop again, just not on my phone.

Hi mark and Don,

Can you help to provide the CPU information of your phone from Setting-> About phone -> CPU information?

Our APP requires Android 2.2 or newer, and ARMv7 processor. then we will check with Amazon about the system requirement.

Sorry to take so long getting back on this. My phone's CPU ID is "ARMv6-compatible processor rev 5 (v6l)" so it looks like my hardware is not compatible. However, the Amazon App Store still made it visible to my phone. I purchased the app on May 4th, 2011 around 10:30AM (GMT -4).

I repurchased Splashtop through the Android Market a few days later on my Nook Color and it is running great. Of course the Nook's CPU ID is "ARMv7 Processor rev 2 (v7l)" so that makes sense.

Thanks for the great product,

Don

This is likely the same problem for the original poster. He said he was using an LG Optimus V which has a Qualcomm MSM7627 processor. That processor is ARMv6 also. So, it looks like the Amazon Market is not filtering out the Splashtop Remote Desktop software for the ARMv6 phones.

Hi All,

I was REALLY hoping this would be the fix for me, but I guess not.
This 'failure to install apps' thing is something I didn't expect when I bought my tablet.
I got the android os because of how intuitive it was on my phone... lesson learned I guess (lol).

So, I have the cruz t-301, and I cant even find the processor specs on their own site.
Is there any hope if the processor isn't compatible?
Wouldn't that just cause poor performance and not a failure to install?

I thought it was because the app was trying to associate itself with things that weren't available, like phone calls.
And I was wondering if rooting the tablet might be of any use.
Because I've ran into several other apps that won't install, in trying to use the same ones I got used to on my phone.
And now I'm wondering if the processor is the likely reason they won't install either.
You think that's possible?

Any help would be great :)
Thanks For Your Time!!
Brad.

The T-301 has a MIPS processor and not an ARM processor. Splashtop won't work because the processor is a different architecture.

Bummer :(
Thanks for the info though Don.
I'm a complete geek about pc's,
but a noob about the whole tablet thing.
I'll get it figured out though (lol).
Thanks again!

I was wondering about the HTC Aria.  It has the Froyo 2.2.2 Android OS and over 32 MB of internal memory.  But the Amazon Appstore did let me purchase it and download, but not install.  I wonder if the Aria has the right processor?  Any thoughts on this, or if there are settings on the phone that may be stopping the install?  Thanks!

The HTC Aria has a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor. Unfortunately it is an ARMv6 processor so it doesn't meet the minimum requirement of an ARMv7 processor. I guess Amazon has not fixed their processor detection yet.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! I feared that was going to be the answer, but I do enjoy it on my other 3 devices: iPad, Acer Iconia A500, and Acrhos Arnova 7. I appreciate your help. Have a great Christmas.

Looks like the LG Optimus V is OBSELETUS. I fear this is going to be a continuing problem with "smart" phones...technology-creep. This happened to web browsers as the Internet evolved. I have a V I bought cheap to get my toe in the water. I never activated the phone and I use it sort of as an iPod. I now have a Kindle Fire I really like. I will wait for smart phone tech to mature a bit more more. I can see the APP industry going through a shakeout soon, sort of like the video game collapse in the 80's and then there will be less and better software.

@Joe,

LG Optimus V is not in our support list. Splashtop Remote Desktop for Android non-HD version needs the device equipped with ARM v7+Android 2.2+, LG Optimus V is ARM v6. This link describes more system requirements about Android devices.
