I have a Kindle Fire with Splashtop Remote v. 1.6.5.6 installed.  I do not see Internet Discovery when I go to the Splashtop Remote settings.  I have a gmail account, but cannot access my home computer when away from home, since I cannot access Internet Discovery.  Can anyone help?

Brian Uyemura,

Open Splashtop remote when on your local wifi network.  When you open Splashtop remote the opening screen should show "Scanning for Computers" at the top.  Once it locates your computer, the top of the Screen will say "Splashtop Remote."  To the right of that should be a gear wheel icon.  Click on it.  That will take you to Settings.  At the top of Settings should be "Internet Discovery."  It will say "Not signed in."  Click on it.  You will then see a screen where you can enter your G-Mail address and password.  Enter that information then click on "Sign in."  That should do it.  I have described how things are on an iPhone and iPad.  Your Kindle Fire may have some variations in the UI, but hopefully you can adapt my directions based on what you see.  Sorry if this doesn't help.  I don't own a Kindle Fire.

Lou Parry,

Thank you for your reply. It seems I needed an updated version of Splashtop Remote.  After I installed the current version, Internet Discovery showed up when I checked Settings.

I have the same problem with the 3g connection. when i am using the "optimize for network" option, the connection is refused at the first time... if i turn it of, it sometimes works but mostly not... i have an iPad 3 and a MacBook as host. Often the connecting process stops at the last step. The macBook already changed the resolution and the splashtop streamer shows a message that he is connected with an iPad but the screen on the iPad remains in waiting position at the last step. after some seconds the connection is refused. I already turned of all my firewalls but it didn't help.

In WiFi mode everything works fine.

@Chris, One thing to try that a user suggested was to disconnect a USB headset from the computer or uncheck redirect sound: http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/20320217-success-storie...

@colleen, "Server URL" is for Splashtop Pro.  It is a subscription service which requires you to create an account: www.splashtop.com/pro

Hi,

I just bought your File Hound App today and downloaded the Windows (7) pc streamer.  PC download and installation went fine. I am able to log into internet discovery, so no worries there. My problems arise when I try connecting both my iPhone and iPad. The program keeps cutting out and I can not log into the gmail account, as recommended above. I have gone back, entered the port numbers, as advised in both local and remote ports in the Windows firewall advanced settings. The Splashtop programs listed on this site as needing to be allowed through the firewall were already allowed through, but on all ports in both local and remote ports in the properties section for each application, so i changed these to the ports advised on this site, 6783-6785. I noted that you can only connect one device, presumably at a time, so closed the App in the iPad and proceeded with the iPhone. In both iPad and iPhone, both new, with the latest OS, when i try to turn on internet discovery, I get the same message "Could not sign in. Please verify your credentials and network connection". The gmail account does not use 2 step verification, so I'm at a loss to work out what is going wrong ! My laptop pc is under a year old, windows 7, 2gig ram, but with an intel core i3 - 380M chipset, so is it the chipset that is causing the program to cut off or the just ok quality of my current, piggybacked wi-fi connection? I am due a new,dedicated personal 12 MPS wi-fi connection within the week.. If the chip is a problem, I'm due a new computer soon anyway, so I'll just upgrade now, but this still does not explain how I can connect to my Gmail account through the desktop client but not through the iPhone or iPad apps ! Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?? Thanks. James

I also have a connectivity problem when i am away from my home network. Even if my google credentials are ok for both of the devices and at logged in status. The system could not locate or connect to my mac. I signed out and signed in from both devices but could not succeed. Its only working when both devices are at the same network and this is really annoying.

I was amazed by the remote desktop functions by Splashtop, while still looking for simply a remote app that use my mobile phone (chinese version) as a chinese writing pad with connection via wifi to my PCs.

@Alberto Moreno,

What kind of firewall is your case? OS or Anti-virus?

Please check again if the firewall settings comply with the settings on this link?
