Optimized for GeForce

Splashtop Support
posted this on June 01, 2011 23:07

Splashtop has recently optimized their Remote Desktop products for users who have an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card in their computer and/or Tegra 2 CPU in their tablet.  What this translates to is higher frame rates and lower lag time that will lead to a better experience for all remote desktop usages, especially multimedia.  Users will notice that their videos, movies, games, and other graphic-intensive content will be even more lag-free and smoother.

Hardware requirements:

  • GeForce 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 series notebook or desktop GPUs with at least 512MB FB
  • Currently does not support SLI or Optimus configurations

Driver / OS requirements:

  • Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit
  • NVIDIA driver 275.33 and later

Current Limitations:

  • Only supports single display configurations.
  • Will not re-direct protected content playback on the PC.
  • If you get a black screen by enabling this feature, please disable it to work around the issue.  See the first comment under this article to know more details.

note.gif  Notes:

  • If SLI is enabled, this will conflict with GeForce optimization.  Please remember to disable SLI when GeForce optimization is enabled.
  • If SLI is enabled, this will prevent Splashtop THD from being able to play games/movies in full-screen mode.  Please disable SLI if you want to play games/movies in full-screen.
  • During our usage cases, we found that enabling or disabling SLI did not require a computer re-start.  However, if a re-start is requested in your case, please share the details about this with us regarding your system info (for example Win7/Vista, 32/64 bits), etc.

If you got a black screen when updating to v1.4.5.3 or later Windows Streamer on Win7 and your display is NVIDIA:

Please try to disable this optimization by following the instructions below and let us know your display card model here for our further investigation, and send us your log file (SPLog.txt under Program Files\Splashtop\Splashtop Remote\Server) by opening a ticket.  Thanks!

Here are the steps to disable it:

1.  Save the attachment file to your local
2.  Rename the file name to be EnableNvFBC.reg (original is EnableNvFBC.reg_)
3.  Double-click on it to execute (this step may trigger a confirm dialog box by system, click Yes to execute if it pops up) .
4.  Exit Splashtop Remote Streamer by right-clicking on the icon in the System tray, then launch the Streamer again from the Start menu (re-booting the computer can get the same effect).
5.  Try to connect again if the "black screen" issue is gone.

Are you saying that unless your Windows PC is running Windows 7 32bit or 64bit that you will not get any benefit from this Geforce optimization?   Can you also make it clear that if you are using the Android Splashtop client you will only see any Tegra2 support in Honeycomb 3.2 OS otherwise like me people could be disappointed until you guys choose to release a Froyo 2.2 equivalent.

@Trevor, yes, in order to get the GeForce optimization you also need a driver that supports this.  Currently, the supported driver is only on Win7.    For Tegra2 optimizations, yes this requires Honeycomb and our Splashtop HD app to have the optimization.  This is due to the APIs available in Honeycomb as compared to Froyo.

Hi Josh,

Could you share us more info about your nvidia display? we can't find any problem with 280.26.

And how do you know the optimization disappeared?

thanks.

Sure, its a Geforce GT230 card going to a single 22" monitor. I've been using Splashtop on my iPad since March and when I installed the new NVIDIA update noticed that Splashtop seemed slightly choppy, as it was prior to the optimization a couple months ago. So I looked at the streamer window and it no longer "optimized for Geforce" in the lower right hand corner. I went ahead and downgrade the drivers and the optimization returned. Both the logo and the smooth streaming.

I'm experiencing this problem on my Windows 7 64 Bit desktop with a NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT.  NVIDIA driver date is 2/23/2011, version 8.17.12.6724.  I will send the log files tonight and try the disable optimization fix.

I find that when I first log into my desktop PC, I get the black (or is it blank?) screen but sound is OK.  I then exit Splashtop on my iPad and start it up again.  The second time I log in, all is well.

I upgraded my NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT driver to 275.33 with no change in behavior.

I did some scenario testing and notice I would only get a blank screen if my PC was in Lock mode.  It it wasn't in Lock mode, I did not get a blank screen.

But, even with the blank screen, I could still enter my password (blindly) and I would get the tone when I logged in.  I could then exit Splashtop on my iPad, re-start Splashtop, put in my Splashtop password, and then all would be well.

I applied EnableNvFBC.reg and the blank screen condition didn't reappear in Lock mode anymore

I'll open a ticket and upload my log files.

Hello I want to know something. I have a fully functional PC tower,Windows 7, NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT, LCD 19" display.

Do I need a lcd screen to use Splastop? I mean, Can I just transmit my PC tower directly into an Ipad or I would need always the LCD screen?

Thanks.

I've had similar issues in not being able to log on. Windows 7 64bit with latest streamer version and the most recent NVidia driver from their website. Have a GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. Even tried with out actually loggin out, just shutting off monitor over the weekend. Frustrating. And I do not have the "optimized for GeForce" dialogue on my streamer panel.

I have a 8800gt and have tried all drivers, 275 - current 285.62 and I cant get it to use the optimization for geforce. Splashtop runs pretty good and if this optimization helps it even move, this would have to be the smoothest running vnc app I've seen. HELP ME OUT!

Ok I tried it on another pc and while I can get it to say Optimized for GeForce, once my iPad connects ( and sometimes as soon as the computer boots to desktop) the computer freezes for about 4 mins then bluescreens, which is a stop x116, crash in the nvlddmkm driver file. This happens every time with all drivers from 275-290, whlq and beta drivers. The computer has a gt 220 video card.

I have drivers 285.62 and it doesnt show optimized for geforce anymore. On some older one it did.

Does this even matter when we are talking Windows 7 to Windows 7 remote?

Hi all,

If you can't play games in full screen with nvidia display, please check your case if SLI enabled, or your motherboard is integrated with Interl/nVidia together and Intel is the major display. All them will cause GeForce optimization failed. Please check above article again and this link for more info.

Unfortunately I don't have SLI, and my Nvidia is set as the primary display/motherboard in PEG mode.

Log states: [SRFeat01]:[VideoCap] driver doesn't support NvFBC! v=00000004 ccn=0 cc=0 icp=0

Is there something I'm missing here? Is there a way to get a more detailed log of why this is failing?

Thanks!

Win7 64bit Ultimate. Geforce gt 440 . and im trying to use Splashtop THD with my ASUS tf300....but when i log into my pc the screen goes black on my tablet (while still giving me options to change game controlls, etc.). And this problem happens with NO videos or games being used/open, just a freshly booted pc. I have tried updating my Geforce drivers to the newest and also attempting the registry patch  I also have Splashtop remote which seems to work just fine. Shows my screen every time with no problems. And i have no SLI enabled.

What I've found with Splashtop Streamer and Splashtop THD:

If you are experiencing the following issues (no NVidia acceleration), visible in log:

[SRFeat01]:[Media] Don't support IntelQSVH264 video encoder

[SRFeat01]:[VideoCap] driver doesn't support NvFBC! v=00000004 ccn=0 cc=0 icp=0

Then it is due to Splashtop picking up the primary video controller as Intel (or another) rather than the Nvidia.

To resolve the issue you must do the following:

1. Make sure that the intel graphics controller or iGPU is disabled in the BIOS.

2. As the Splashtop app only seems to verify what graphics card is in use during installation. (uninstall Splashtop)

3. Reboot

4. Re-install Splashtop

5. Make sure the registry (DWORD x32) is set to "1"

x64 = (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Splashtop Inc.\Splashtop Remote Server)

x32 = (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Splashtop Inc.\Splashtop Remote Server)

6. Enter the splashtop details (User name and password, PIN, gmail account etc)

7. Reboot (this is required for Splashtop to run with higher privileges)

This should now work, unless you've got other issues!

Other: Does it work ? Yes. However, if your tablet has wifi issues e.g bad latency (sporadic ping times), packet drop out, not enough bandwidth) then your not likely to get smooth performance.

Apologies again that's supposed to be "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Splashtop Inc.\Splashtop Remote Server" not HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

Anyways, I thought that I would just add another performance note:

If you happen to use splashtop over the wireless then you "should" have your Network card "NIC" Flow control(RX & TX) turned "on" otherwise there appears to noticeable frame skipping, most likely due to network packet size being to large.

However, if you only use the tool over a wired network then from my tests, performance is better with flow control turned off.

This feature would be AMAZING, IF it worked! Spent hours on this and while I was finally able to get the "Optimized" logo to show up after setting my PCI-E as my primary display driver, I still get the full screen error message.

What else can I do? I have tried the registry changes and numerous other "fixes" but nothing.

I have a GTX 670, all latest drivers.

Same like me Lee Swaing, look at one post before, this is my problem, but no one answer me. I try many and many fixes with registry e.t.c I tried all of what they have spoken to here. And I have logo about "Optimized for Ge-force" but finally nothing, full screen doesn't work.

This is very disappointing. I really hope they can fix this issue!

The crazy thing is, that it seems it's caused by Splashtop forcing the app to minimize, because sometimes with alt-tab I can get the game to stay on screen with the damn Splashtop full screen error on top of it and the game plays perfectly fine except that it is obstructed by the damn error!

@Eriks & Lee,

As to full screen support, just like we mentioned in the link Jaff provided (https://support-splashtop2.splashtop.com/entries/22078677-What-nVidia-GeForce-optimization-does-the-Splashtop-app-support-), it now could only support driver v314.07, but the later version driver like 320.xx should be supported properly when Streamer 2.4.5.x released which should be soon. We also have a beta build of Streamer v2.4.0.3 (https://support-splashtop2.splashtop.com/entries/22078677-What-nVidia-GeForce-optimization-does-the-Splashtop-app-support-), please install it to see if the full screen works.

As to gaming issue, when playing game in full screen during remote connection, please try our suggestion below:

1. Please make sure you have totally disabled other video chip if it is a duel-graphic card system on your machine.

2. Please try to keep the resolution of full-screen game the same as your desktop's best fit resolution, then build remote connections to see if it could show normally.

OMG, IT WORKS! Both the beta driver and the newly released 2.4.5.2 streamer works with full screen perfectly!

And not only that, IT'S AMAZING!

WOW, the lag time is almost ZERO. I had it set up next to my TV and side by side they appear almost perfectly synced! This is an amazing accomplishment.

With this and USB over network software I can use a 360 controller on my Surface Pro and play games from my serious gaming rig from any room!

THANK YOU!

EnableNvFBC.reg_

これです

これをダウンロードして「EnableNvFBC.reg」このようにリネームしてから実行するとパッチが導入され、splashtopが正常作動するようになります

このコメントが検索でHITして解決の手助けになれば幸いです
