really hope you guys hury up.. because else I have to search for an alternative solution...

I was told by SplashTop on Twitter that the Lion-compatible update won't be released before "some time in August".    

I find this incredible that SplashTop continues to treat its Mac customers as 2nd class citizens!  

Splashtop Remote was a top purchased app in all of App Store for several weeks.  Time to go back to App Store and change the review to 1-star, until they get the message.

Well considering they respond days late to out raged customers, I wouldn't expect anything quickly. Has anyone found something else that we can all switch too? Lets do it!!

I have removed this application from my devices and have requested a refund from Apple. I'll buy something that doesn't suck from a company that cares about their customers. I'd rather pay a little more for something I know will be kept up to date from a company that cares about their customers.

I don't want to switch. I paid my $10 now I want a functioning App. What we need to do if that doesn't happen quickly is all contact Apple and ask for our money back.

I am more than a little annoyed at this.  Guess its back to PC splashtop while im out.  Please fix this!

We hear you! and we'll try to release a quick update for Mac Lion users within 12~24 hours from now.

However, this update will get a penalty causing 2nd monitor not function (caused by Lion). We'll try to fix it next update.

very disappointing, I work for a retailer and sell iPads all day and have been recommending this app, guess I'll stop considering we still don't have lion support, is lion that much different that makes it hard to update it? All my other apps and desktop clients work fine....

if you are looking for a simple  alternative, tell them to use iTeleport instead, it works on local network or over the internet and can control mac and pc.  more importantly it works perfectly with OS X Lion. Unfortunately the client is ios only so no Android version which is what I want at the moment.  It's very similar to splashtop but doesn't have sound, personally I think the way you control the remote pc is better than splashtop too, i don't like splashtops tap and hold for right click, it often ends up left clicking aftre the right click is recognised. You do two fingers to right click in iTelepor (stil pinch an zoom with 2 as well)  iTeleports internet implementation seems much quicker than splashtop and uses google the same as splashtop.

your "simple alternative" of using iTeleport costs 20 dollars. Another huge factor that makes Splashtop way better. I'd rather not spend money and just patiently wait for an update.

I have two iPads...one with IOS4.3x on it, one with IOS 5. Using the latest App and the beta Mac Lion client, still doesn't work. Black screen as usual.

I have the same problem as Jeff. I updated the streamer but when I connect its a black screen on the iPad. I can watch the iPad move the cursor but no display.

Make sure you have the desktop size in  the app set to best fit to device.  if you try to set a specific resolutions it  doesn’t work.

It sort of works with mine but  the real desktop screen resolution drops to a very low res, looks fine on my tablet though

If you delete and reinstall it will probably revert your app settings back to default which will be 'best fit for device' 

must be something with iOS5 on the iPad, but the strange thing is it worked before Lion. So, guess I am paying the price many times over!

Latest Beta works.  Those still having issue - run un-install script against the previous version, and re-install this one "fresh".

Splashtop team - thanks for finally getting on top of this.  You shouldn't have put yourself in that position, but we all makes mistakes.  Look forward to continuing use of your great products.

i get lots of false clicks when doing two / tree fingers gestyres. i dont know if its always been like that though because ive always had lion since i bought the app so never tried with snow leopard.

i much prefer iteleports (iphone)  and logmein's gesture support. as well as multitouch gestures going wrong, holiding for right click often left clicks after tge right click has been actioned too. gestures are terrible in the app!

I have the same problem.  I have cerebral palsy and use my nose on my ipad to operate my computer- so this is a real prob for me as I downloaded lion yesterday.  hoping a solution date is near - please tell us what is going on.  I have to get other people to type for me.

I spoke too soon - still getting "back screen" on my iPad2 running the latest Beta.  This is intermittent - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Hopefully SplashTop is hard at work on a stable Lion release.

ios5 is still very much beta with no release date. so going by the lion beta you maay have a few months to wait yet!

I agree with MijniPad.net. Also, there is no place  on Splashtop Remote for iPad to to turn on Internet Discovery

I turned on Internet Discovery in Setting on iPad.

I am also seeing only a black screen on my iPad2.  Config:  MBP i7, Lion, iPad2, STR 1.5.0.0, STR Streamer 1.5.0.1.

Very weird - all of a sudden my Splashtop did also work while having the Mac on hibernate...

Only thing I did chance was installing iLife...!

I really have no idea....., but Splashtop is now working perfectly on my Lion!   

Splashtop does not work when my iMac is in sleep mode. When the iMac is asleep, the iPad  app lists the iMac with a red dot with gray x in the middle. It also doesn't  work when iMac is asleep and internet discovery is on.

@dsmith - you did get the BETA version? Cause that is the one you need.

And did you install iLife...??
Somehow - after installing that - mine was working. 

Splashtop Remote on my iPad2 can see (on my home network), connect to, and control my PC.  There are no issues.  Connecting to my iMac is quite different.  Before updating to Lion, the iPad could see, connect, and control the iMac as expected.  After installing Lion, it does not work.

In this specific case, Splashtop Streamer 1.5.0.1 beta streamer for Lion is used.  World of Warcraft is the program to be controlled on the iMac.

When Warcraft is sized to full-screen, connecting to the iMac results in a choppy screen that resembles a TV with the horizontal and vertical hold broken.  Pressing the keyboard screen icon allows me to type a command-M which minimizes the screen.  Then the visual static merely changes color as the host desktop image changes.  The screen appearance is as though it was transmitted in an unknown format to the Splashtop Remote on the iPad 2.

When the Warcraft window is not full screen maximized and merely one of many windows floating on the desktop, the Splashtrop Remote can receive and display the host screen correctly.

I reinstalled ST Streamer for Mac and it works fine now on my local network.  But, I can't get the Internet Discovery feature to work.  Is the ID feature still a problem?

C'mon  guys.  Lion has already been out for 2 weeks!  No movement on this.  I just submitted my log for my trouble ticket.

Splashtop Remote for Mac Streamer v1.5.0.1 beta for Lion only works on OS X 10.7.0. There's a known issue(black screen) on OS X 10.7.2, will fix in next update. It's coming soon, please stay tuned.

This is crazy. Are they really changing that much in these releases that causes the streamer to break? Also, so we should look for a new release soon? There is a 1.5.5.2 now but it says for SL.

since 1.5.5.2 i can't login on my gmail account, it keeps telling me "wrong email/password"... but it's definetly correct...  :/ 

1.5.5.2 solved black screen but now I can't connect from outside network.

Got outside network connection back, had to delete and add back my port forwarding, which is what I had to do last time there was an upgrade.  Need to remember that next time.

1.5.5.2 solved the black screen, but it does not stream sound !!! 

This latest update simply won't even run for me in Lion, crashes every time. I have never successfully used this app outside my home.

   Thanks for your answer. Everything is set, except step 3, since the flower (icon) does not appear on the top of my mac (Soundflower is properly set in the sound tab tough), How can I get it to show up there ?. Actually, the sound is not streamed so the computer continues to play it.

Hi luiz,

Splashtop Streamer for Mac only includes necessary driver, not installed whole program. So you can not see the setting UI on step #3.

Basically, if you only want sound streamed to ipad and muted on Mac streamer, finish the top 2 steps(for input and output) are enough. If you want more options like both sound playing on mac and ipad, then you may need to download Soundflower and install its application to get the setting UI of step#3.

I have fixed the connection problem on my Mac with OS X Lion 10.7.1!!! Previously my iPad would not connect or give me a black screen.

Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility: Select Splashtop Streamer in the left-side window and press the "unmount" button. Then, right-click and "remove" Splashtop Streamer from the left-side window. Restart the app on your iPad and it should work flawlessly!

I am running Splashtop Streamer for Mac (Version 1.5.5.2) and Splashtop Remote Desktop for iPad (Version 1.5.5.1). I have an iMac running OS X Lion (Version 10.7.1) and an iPad running iOS 4 (Version 4.3.5).

I do not know why it was mounted before. I suppose that it was mounted for installation of the program. I only noticed that it was mounted because I could not empty the .dmg file from the trash after installing and running the Splashtop Remote application. I hope this helps.

For some reason, on Lion 10.7.1 and ST 1.5.5.2, I get nearly 100% CPU when idle. I've quit, and restarted, reinstalled and cleaned out the Cache and pref files to no avail. Anyone else get this?

I also cannot get either my Mac or my iPhone to connect to my google account. I am using the latest version of the software, and my gmail.net email address. any update on the multiple monitor support on OSX Lion.  This thing still doesn't work well with multiple monitors.  It just flickers.

How can this product be so bad on Lion?  This was the favorite app, now, i don't even use it anymore since Lion came out.

I have the latest version of the streamer and client and running OS Lion, but i get the black screen and very short connections then have to reconnect from my ipad please help...

My performance when streaming video is so poor that I can't even watch now, after having upgraded to Lion and the latest streamer and iPad 2 client. I have an i7 Mac Pro with 12 gig of Ram and I know my network environment has not changed since I used the app for this same purpose under Snow Leopard with good results.

I not only get the 'black screen' effect, I also often end up in the endless contacting computer loop. I would have thought that this issue would have been resolved by this time.  Any ETA of a fix?

@Dawn, yes, the black screen issue with Lion was resolved.  Please make sure you use the latest Mac Streamer.

Could you try the following suggestions?

1.lower the resolution on mac to reduce the streaming size

2.clear cache on ipad before making connection

3.please uninstall/reinstall again if you just update the new release

4.if all above still don't work, try the hidden feature to limit the streaming frame rate to see if helpful.

The funny thing is that my office computer has lower resolution than my home computer. Furthermore when I tried to connect to my office machine the screen resolution is changed, by splastop I guess. But the iPad screen is still black.

My suggestion is give up.  Like many others, I have tried everything in the help topics; I've reinstalled, restarted, unchecked firewalls, forwarded ports - the works.  I cannot connect my Mac with my ipad or iphone via internet discovery.  It simply doesn't work.  By contrast, I downloaded Jump from http://jumpdesktop.com/free-remote-desktop  It worked first time and every time since.  Flawless.  Sorry Splashtop but you don't have what it takes.

If you can connect in local network but not from remote network, maybe this hidden feature help, please have a try.

it's a way to reduce the frame rate of streaming video. However, it'll sacrifice the display quality depends on what # of FPS you setting up. Here are the steps to enable this feature:

1. prepare a Editor tool to edit Mac plist file, here are two samples:

  a). Xcode4(Apple Inc): http://developer.apple.com/xcode/, for Lion only

  b). PlistEditor(3rd party) : http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/plisteditpro/

2. Go-->Go to Folder…, input the path ~/Library/Perferences/

3. select com.splashtop.Splashtop-Streamer.plist and edit it with kinds of tool mentioned above

4. Add a new Child, named “SharpFPS”, Type:Number, Value:5

5. exit Splashtop Streamer then re-launch it, try again!

Note: this value of parameter can't result in a precise frame rate like Windows, there's a little tolerance.

For example:

Fps value=5, the real fps could be 5~10

Fps value=15, the real fps could be 15~22

My Macbook pro 13 inch lion Os when the Splashtop Streamer is activated it keeps running and using 100% of resources. The fan goes wild and my computer overheats. When I turn off streamer it quiets  and cools down

The Splashtop Streamer for Mac (Ver. 1.7.5.2) is incompatible with Mac OS X 10.7.4.   While the display of the iMac is powered off by energy-saving, connection from the Splashtop Remote Desktop to the iMac can not wake up the display and then the connection is lost.
I am looking forward to the update of the Splashtop Streamer for Mac compatible with Mac OS 10.7.4.

Having same issue as Y Y. Can not connect when home computer is asleep.

Have you installed our virtual driver?  Install our Virtual Driver from the Mac Streamer/Settings/Advanced dialog will help on connecting to a computer entered Display Sleep mode in Lion. Please also check this link (Section III) for more info :

Don't get too excited. They do NOT fix many other things!

 On another site I have found a way to log into Lion from the iPad remote.  First set the Mac display to never sleep.  Create a screen saver that is totally black and set it to come on after 3 minutes or shorter if possible.  I have been able to connect all day using this approach. Once I had to tap the iPad screen to get the screen saver to go off and see the desktop. I hope this helps someone.  Colleen in Wisconsin
