Recently installed ios 5 beta 2, and now am having black screen issues. If there is a fix for it, would love to know. Otherwise, this is more FYI.
EDIT: Am using the ipad 2

I am having the same issue. I contemplated going back to beta 1 because I had no problems at all then I realized I did an update and now just get a blank screen with the keyboard. I installed the free version on my phone just to see if the problem existed and it did not. I to am using an ipad 2. Please issue a fix for this. I use this app daily.

I have to say...this is a pretty lame response from these people. I would venture to say that a LOT of Splashtop users are now on IOS 5 one way or the other. Literally every other app I use either works fine, or the company has put out a fix. Lame for a paid app

Someone recommended this app to me so I bought it. I have a black screen on my iPad and I tried turning off the firewall on the router and setting the port forwarding on it without sucess.
Now I read that I would have to wait until september to use this app because I'm on iOS 5 Beta 3?
Very disappointed.

Don't blame the app developers. These incompatibilites are usually caused by developers using undocumented/unsupported API calls (like videotoolbox in xbmc). Apple has probably changed the way these API features work. If the developers have addressed the issue it is still up to Apple to accept the updated app (remember iOS developers are bound by NDA and submitting ios5 apps may violate these agreements). Finally... It's called a beta for a reason. I kept ios5 on my iPhone however downgraded back to 4.3.3 on my iPad because of incompatibilites. There are two things you can do about the black screen 1. Man up and live with it or downgrade or 2. Cry about it.

While I'm angry that it doesn't work like you guys, please remember you are using a BETA OS and this kind of problem are to be expected so don't blame the dev for not having fixed it already.
That being said, I want it to be fixed ASAP :)

Amazingly, the fix the JUST pushed out today remedies none of the issues described in this thread. Doesn't solve the black screen problem, doesn't solve the lost connection problem, doesn't work on IOS 5 or 4.x, doesn't work on Lion. As far as I can tell, this app has become useless.

The just released update didn't fix anything on the iPad 2, still get a black scream but you can move the mouse around, i have on a windows 7 desktop and a MacBook Pro. and i get the same issue on both, on the iPhone 4 it works with no issues.

Hi guys, i'm on ios 5 beta 3 with the same problem.
However the browser version that gives you 5 minutes of use does work fine.
Normal screen, everything works (for 5 minutes) not only the browser.
What gives ?

There're following black screen on client side issues in latest version(v1.5.0.1), you can get a workaround if you are case#3, for new OS issues, we are actively working on it.
1. if your Mac OS X is Lion : your client device(ex. ipad) will get black screen, we are working it, please stay tuned
2. if your iOS on ipad2 is iOS beta 2 or 3 : black screen only on ipad2, iphone4 and ipad1 is okay, we are working on it, please stay tuned
3. if your Windows streamer is Win7 and display is Nvidia GeForce : in this case, your client devices will get black screen, please check this link for a workaround to disable nvidia optimization feature.

Just updated to iOS 5 beta 4 and Mac OS Lion + Splashtop for Lion. Problem seems to be solved. No black Screen anymore.
same...at long last...way to go apple for fixing it before the splashtop guys ....
