According to the reports we've received from users, the "black screen" issue could be caused by the following reasons. If any of these situations pertains to you, please try the related suggestions to solve them.
Splashtop Streamer
Solution: Since this issue would need to be fixed by Apple and we currently can't do anything about it, we suggest that you please use another Player like VLC instead.
Solution: Please check this link for a work-around: http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/20169946-optimized-for-geforce
Solution: If you are using this display chip and got a black screen, please find or add a new registry key from: \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Splashtop Inc.\Splashtop Remote Server\EnableIQSV and set it to 0, then restart Splashtop Streamer. This will fix the black screen issue on client devices.
(Download the attached EnableIQSV.reg_ file and rename it to be .reg file. Then double-clicking it can automatically add this key.)
Solution: Please update to Splashtop Streamer for Mac v1.6.0.0 or above (FREE as always), from our website at http://www.splashtop.com/remote/download
Solution: Please see this topic: http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/306713-why-am-i-unable-...
Splashtop Remote Client
Solution: If you are using this combination and got a black screen, please find or add a new registry key from: \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Splashtop Inc.\Splashtop Remote Server\EnableIQSV and set it to 0, then restart Splashtop Streamer. This will fix the black screen issue on Android HD devices.
(Download the attached EnableIQSV.reg_ file and rename it to be .reg file. Then double-clicking it can automatically add this key.)
Please note that the only version of ROM that we tested with Viewsonic was 2.x; which is officially supported by Splashtop Remote and should not produce the black screen issue. If you use Viewsonic with Android 3.x customized ROM, this black screen issue may need to be fixed by Viewsonic.

Solution: Restore the RDP session again
Solutions:
Please try to connect later, after peak time, and see if there is any difference.
Another suggestion you could try is to lower the resolution setting on the tablet side (such as 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600).

Black screen. iPad 1, iOS5, Windows 7, High resolution display, but no matter the resolution, still black on iPad. Sony Viao. 64 bit. Any help?
In XP, this worked for me-
Go to Control panel>System>Remote. In the center of that window you should see a check box to allow remote access. Check it and then click apply.
After you load Splashtop on your Android tablet, reboot the tablet. Once I did my computer screen at work came in clear. I use XP at work.
@Vincent Lee ,
Not sure if you already got solution for your issue? It should be caused by Player's video settings, please check this link for more info about how to adjust the settings for your player.

@Pamela Barnak ,
Could you share us more info about your problem? you got black screen when connecting to your work pc from home? or in the same network? no video playing?
When I logged in from work on our wireless network, I had a black screen on my Acer. Work PC is XP and it was showing that my Acer was connected. All I had to do was reboot my tablet and it connected fine. At home, I tried to log on through my wireless router at home, but it would not let me . I had to pay $9.99 to use anywhere (I think that was the name.) Once I did, I could see both my home pc and work pc.
@Pamela Barnak ,
If your scenarios is using a Android tablet(Splashtop 2 app installed) to connect to another PC(XP) in a same network, it won't need AAP(Anywhere Access Pack) activated. If you want to connect your tablet to your pc from different network, it'll need AAP activated.
Please try to connect your tablet to your pc within a same network first, if it'll get a black screen on tablet, please check your pc if the display is nVidia or Intel Sandy Bridge(check above article), and try the suggestions mentioned above to see if helps.
After this black screen issue solved, you can try AAP solution for connection between different networks.
Thanks for the reponse but I already paid for the AAP(Anywhere Access Pack). I couldn't connect through my own wireless router to my work PC without it. Even my boss was forced to buy the AAP. $9.99 isn't bad since it will connect all my computers. Only problem is I can not use splashtop 2 HD on my Android 2 phone.
:-( I am upgrading to droid 4 in December so I will just have to log in with my tablet when I am on the road.
@Pamela Barnak ,
I saw you had some connections records with AAP activated for different networks between your android tablet and computer.
Splashtop 2 app is currently for ipad and android tablet only, android phone and iphone versions are coming soon.
Hello, I'm having some issues with this. I'm running an Android tablet (ICS) with Splashtop Win8 Testbed Edition installed. I'm currently running Windows 7 with a Windows 8 virtual machine. I have Splashtop installed on the Windows 7 OS, but whenever I connect I get a black screen on my tablet (I'm sitting right next to my laptop). Just to be sure, I also installed it on the Windows 8 virtual machine, but no difference. I've tried all of the solutions above and I still don't get anywhere. My laptop is an HP dm4-2070 (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c02877599&lc=en&product=5128728). What can I do to get this to work?
Oh, and one other thing (Not sure if this is common to the problem or not) but when I move my finger around on the screen, I can see the mouse moving on the monitor. It seems like the video just isn't getting streamed.
I had this working when I purchased the app (I paid a lot for this, so I wanted to be sure it worked within Android's 15 minute return window), but for some reason, it isn't working anymore. Any help would be amazing. Thanks!
I have same problem with black screen on my Asus notebook and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10. I have corrcted video players settings.
Think, my problem in graphics adapter Sis Mirage 3 on ASUS X58C. When i'm come back from blank screen to Splashtop setting, it freez on android tablet.
On my PC with ATI 2600XT all work fine, but no sound.
I have same issue as above. Connects my tablet (Galaxy 10.1) to my pc (running windows 7 home) but screen on tablet is blank.
Can see mouse icon moving, etc, but no video displayed.
I have tried installing the .reg files to my PC, but no joy and as above, when i try to exit, splashtop freezes and after a minute or so i get a 'splashtop is not responding' message.
Any idea's what i can try next to try to resolve this ????

TRY CHANGING THE RESOLUTION SETTINGS ON YOUR TABLET !! DON´T USE "BEST FIT TO THIS DEVICE". TRY USING A SMALLER RESOLUTION. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY GALAXY TAB 10.1!@Dave, Andres Castañeda,
If you are running Android v 4.x on tablet and using Spalshtop 2 app for your Android tablet, could you try to enable "Run in Compatibile mode" to see if there's difference.
How to find this option?
1.Launch Splashtop 2 app on tablet
2.Settings/General Preferences tab
3.enable "Rin in Compatibile mode"
I only see the black screen when the remote computer is password-locked (Win + L) or I have the option marked Enable screen lock Splashtop on logout.
Thus I can not leave my computer without a password at work
I have tired all your suggestions but still get a black screen on my iPad with just the pointer and your tools showing. Same setup works fine on my Macs and win 7 machines.
The problems in when I'm using my Dell XPS 14Z with Core i7 – 2640M @2.80Hz Win8 64bit with NVIDIA GeForce GT520M using both my Original iPad and iPad 3rd Generation
Any ideas?
Nick
@Nick,
Please try to disable DDA on win8 with the instructions on this link:

I found that Zone Alarm was causing me to have a black screen on my Kindle Fire. I had to add the Splashtop applications to the allowed list to fix it.
One quick way to check is to turn off your Zone Alarm or other firewall type program and restart your Splashtop Apps. If it then works, you will have to add Splashtop to the exceptions/allowed listing within your firewall.
ZONEALARM!!
Thanks for tip, thats my issue.... sorted :) Happy....
