I am able to download the file but it will not install and pops up the error message.

I fixed mine!  I tried all the suggestions from all over the web and NOTHING worked.

This is what I did (I have XP with service pack 3).

Click Start Button.

Click Control Panel.

Click Administrative Tools in classic view - or Performance and Maintenance and then Adminstrative Tools in category view,

Click Services

Find the service name "Windows Installer" and click that line so it's highlighted.  Under the status column it was blank.

On the Left side of the screen will be the like "Start Service"  - click it. That starts up the process on your system.

Run the splashtop installer again - IT WORKS!

After it is installed - go back to the services window and click the "Stop Service" link to stop the process.

I'm not a PC guru just a stubborn pc user so I turned the windows installer process back off because I don't know the effect of leaving it on.

I was able to link to this pc within seconds of the install working so I know this solved my problem.

I did check my other computers (all of which the splashtop installer worked the first time without doing this step) and all them had the windows installer set up the exactly the same way.  I dunno why this one had a problem.

Good Luck.  Let me know if this helps you.

Version 1.7.0.1 on Windows 7 (64bit) causes error 1719. Tried remedies. Nothing works. Yet every other installer works fine. So I conclude that your installer is borked! Older version installed fine. Where can I download a previous version?

@saryyin tried those remedies already. I repeat: I conclude your installer is borked. Where can I download older version?

@Richard,

Have you installed Airfoil in your Windows computer?

If yes, uninstall it, then install Splashtop streamer again should work.

@Jaff

No Airfoil. Don't even know what it is.

Oddly, every other MSI or EXE installer file and Windows Updates work fine without the 1719  error. However, I cannot install any Splashtop products - Splashtop Streamer 1.7.0.1 or 1.6.0.1 or Splashtop Remote Desktop 1.1.1.0.

I have tried pretty much every fix out there on the Internet. I even manually cleaned the registry file of every reference to Splashtop. I also tried setting up a different adminstrator User account to install. and nothing (i repeat NOTHING) resolves this issue with Splashtop products on my Windows 7 (64 bit) box. Splashtop Strreamer 1.6.0.1 used to work just fine on this box.

Since the issue only seems to be with Splashtop I conclude it ain't me. But I can't fathom what you guys are doing that causes this. Perhaps the installer software you are using to create your distribution is corrupt.

I work from home and installed Splashtop remote to access my normal home computor and Home Office computor without any set-ep problems at all.

Sadly the hard drive on the Office machine died so i've had to replace it. I've tried connecting to splashtop to no avail, I have tried downloading the streamer but I get the error 1719 box every time. I have folllowed the above advise and tried to locate the "Windows Installer" in System tools but it is just not there.

Does anyone else have any suggestions please

I had the same issue on Windows XP. The installer was corrupted. This can be fixed by "Method 5" as described at the resources saryyin mentions. Make sure you get version 4.5, since it's likely Windows will refuse to install an older version if you have a newer version (even if it's corrupted). Following the reboot, the SplashTop installer works nicely.

Windows 7 64 bits+Streamer installer --> Error 1719. Nothing worked. No remedies. I disabled my antivirus (Microsoft essentials), followed both links provided above, changed registery, evertything. Nothing works. Installed that on a win 7 32 bits, no problem! Defenitly it doesn't like 64 bits plus something I don't know.
