Scrolling and Pinch/Zoom Does Not Work on TouchPad!

David Teichner

I have read all questions and responses from both users and the SplashTop  moderator and I  tried recommendations, but  I cannot get the two finger scrolling to work right and the Pinch/Zoom gesture does not work either. With the scrolling, if I "click" the Touchpad and scroll with two fingers it moves the page a tiny bit, even with a large up or down swipe with two fingers. This lack of (easy) scrolling and Pinch/Zoom handicaps this program greatly. The only way to scroll is use the up/down arrows on keyboard, but that blocks half the screen. Please advise.

I don't have a problem with the pinch/zoom but I have to agree that the two-finger  scrolling gesture doesn't work well at all. That's definitely a problem. Hope you can fix this quickly - it does make things difficult. Otherwise, so far the program seems to work well.

The two-finger gesture works, but you have to realise it's not instantaneous. There is a lag of up to one second after your  scrolling gesture.  The pinching gesture is more responsive.

To scroll - first, ensure that you're  in the right window by tapping a blank space in that window.  Next use the 2-finger scroll - up to scroll down (and vice versa) - then let go.  There is a a time lag before the content of the window moves up or down.

Hope this helps.

It's very disconcerting to have such a lag with scrolling when everything else responds so quickly. Why should the zoom be more responsive than the scroll? That doesn't make sense to me. A time lag when scrolling in a browser window just leads to more frustration, IMHO.

I'm pretty frustrated by it as well.  It seems to emulate the scroll wheel on a mouse when it works - stepped scrolling rather than smooth scrolling.  The gesture appears to be misinterpreted as a pinch-zoom a lot of the time.   On mac's this is a worse issue than on pc's as two finger swipe is by convention smooth window scroll.  I'd still be satisfied if it reliably mapped to the scroll wheel - I don't have any confidence when I attempt this.  This isn't working properly now clearly as many users are complaining about it.    I've suggested they adopt a gesture that can't be misinterpreted like a three finger swipe (which can be easily coded) as the scroll wheel if they can't sort this out.

Otherwise performance is quite good.  The scrolling issue is the one major nuisance right now.

I really love this app as well and Splashtop always has great quality of products, but the one reason I'm starting to hate this app is because of the scrolling. I just HATE IT!!!!! Every single time I try it zooms in or out. I tried almost every different way there is but it still doesn't work.    :(

Please adjust the scrolling action to a three finger, or figure out a way to make it not so easily confused with a zoom operation :)

Splashtop really needs to fix this problem.

The scrolling is literally a PITA, it doesn't work and if it does then its still not good for usage since 90% of the time it doesn't.

Needs to be redone. Maybe a 3 point system (3 finger scroll) so that it doesn't interfere with the zoom function...

Also noticed the lack of support for the BlueTooth keyboard. Maybe have some functionality on the arrows (this way we can scroll and move left/right/up/down using the keyboard keys).

Other keys could also be programmed to make various things thus facilitating things.

Scrolling requires commands to be sent to the PC, which is bound to introduce a little lag depending on the network connection.  Zooming is a function performed locally on the Touchpad so it's bound to be more responsive.

There is a problem whereby there is a small percentage of zoom likely to happen at the end of a scroll due to the relative position of the fingers altering.

There is also the problem I mentioned in another thread, which is caused by the control and other such keys on the popup keyboard being sticky.  Once you accidentally leave one of those keys down, the scroll function is completely messed up and can, for instance, be interpreted as a browser zoom on the PC.

As for the comment about blue tooth keyboard functions, there's a separate thread on this where I have posted a Windows program which works around some of the limitations.

I tried Splashtop for controlling a Mac from my HP touchpad.  Scrolling works poorly on most web pages and not at all in iTunes and other applications.   This makes splash top kind of a non-starter.

Using an android Thrive, I have yet to get the pinch zoom feature to work.with out that, the program is useless. I am under my 7 day eval period and have asked for a refund with the hopes that JumpPC does what it claims.
