Yes, our Splashtop Remote products do, in general, support connection via 4G. However, the latest Splashtop Remote Desktop HD for Android, version v1.9.7.10, has a known issue on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet with Verizon 4G in the United States.
According to our own tests, we found that the Google Talk service is not stable over the Verizon 4G network. The current workaround for this is to manually configure Port Forwarding on the home router.
Please take a look at this article for how to do ports forwarding: http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/514213-how-do-i-connect... (Requires some technical know-how...)
If YOU are also having problems with 4G connection, but you have a different situation (not the Samsung Galaxy Tab + Verizon situation mentioned above), then please let us know about it by entering a Comment below, and describe your case in detail.
Update: According to our user feedbacks, our app can work very well on AT&T LTE service. (20/12/2011)

I have not been able to log in on my Motorola Xoom since I got it back with the 4G install. It works on the Wi-FI network but not the 3G or 4G. I have verified my email and password in the internet discovery. uninstalled and re installed numerous times but nothing seems to work. Has anyone had this issue?
I'm having the same issue with my Droid Bionic. I can access Splashtop only through wi-fi, but not 4G. With wi-fi off, it still shows the 'Found Automatically' status but never connects. After a few minutes of trying to connect it just times out. I've also tried installing and uninstalling on my computer and my phone a few times.
no go on my htc thunderbolt via Verizon lte
I am using a newly upgraded Verizon 4G Motorola Xoom and cannot get a connection when on any network other than wifi. I have verified my email and password in the internet discovery and used my gmail account to log in. Please let me know when this is fixed as I will be glad to re-purchase the app at that time but will be requesting a refund for now...
Great app for xoom but only works in WIFI :(
I am using the Verizon 4G Motorola Xoom, and having the same issues as everyone else. Hope you can resolve this issues soon, otherwise splash top is going to be useless.
I'm having the same issue as everyone else. No connection via 3G or 4G on my Moto Xoom, or Droid Bionic. Interestingly, I also cannot get it to connect on my 3G Droid 2 Global
i have motorola droid bionic and couln't log in my computer with 4G connection
Hello, same issue as above. The app works brilliantly with wi-fi but i cannot connect through 3g or 4g. I'm in Canada, with Rogers using an HTC EVO 3D.
I also have the Android Bionic and have the same issue. I have done everything I have read in different forums. Port Forwarding, manual ip setup, uninstall-reinstall shutting down both my firewalls (Norton 360 and Windows). WiFi works fine. I see the phone is trying to establish a connection but either times out OR Fails to connect. 4glite should be much faster than 3g so I understand that lag will not be an issue. My main purpose of trying this app is to view my delivery trucks that run on a program that uses MS Silverlight. It's very frustrating that such a great tool isn't working the way it should. I understand tech changes overnight, but with the funding this company is recieving, I expect it to be fixed. It directly effects the viewing capabilities while I'm out of the office. Simply frustrating.
having the same problem with the thrive thru the verizon 4g LTE and apparently even when it is 3g mode... works very well thru wifi (have only tested on the same wifi network that my remote laptop is on however) but 'cannot connect' thru my 4g/3g mobile device. am considering putting my whole office on this tech if we can get this working.... somewhat defeats the purpose if it will only work on wifi networks in my case
Same here with Droid Bionic on Verizon 4G. I just posted this same question, then ran across this thread.
I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I can't get it to work with 4G or Wifi... I don't know if its the same issue or two seperate issues. If I can get it running with Wifi I will be content for now while the 4G issue is being resolved but I need to get it solved on the wifi asap. HELP PLEASE...
All, we saw issues with Verizon 4G and were investigating. However, it looks like Verizon resolved the network issue and we are not seeing an issue anymore without making any changes. Please try now and let us know. Also, please make sure to have the latest Streamer and Remote client on your systems. If you still have issues, it would be helpful to know which carrier you are seeing the issue on.
@Scott, the most common issue for not being able to connect is your firewall and anti-virus settings blocking our Streamer application. Please take a look at these tutorials as a reference: http://support-remote.splashtop.com/forums/298564-step-by-step-tuto...
My T-Mobile Mytouch 4g Hotspot does not allow me to use remote desktop either. Kind of a deal killer for me.
@Victor ... Ok ... I followed the suggested items from the tutorial reference and got it to work. To me it was difficult to determine where this info was an that it needed to be done. I noted in the ticket that I feel that this should be put into the setup instructions since I would assume that most people would be using outside their home (or else they would just walk up their computer if they are already in the house). I just feel that the whole process is made to seem sooooo simple but in reality it is actually much more involved than a simple 3 step process illustrated when opening up the app for the first time.
I had to change my firewall settings ... and change the wireless router to allow the port forwarding.
@ Steve Peck ... After I did this with my Galaxy tab 10.1 ... it was running with the 4G LTE. Not sure if it is an issue on T-Mobile or not but it worked on my Verizon 4G network.
Victor,
Nothing has changed on my Verizon 4G Xoom as written above. The WiFi works fine but the 3g and 4g says "Found Automatically" but still will not connect.
@ Victor(Splashtop), got it working, i'm with Rogers Wireless in Canada. Here's what i had to do. I ran through the firewall exceptions and noticed that an exception for the spupnp.exe wasn't there so I installed it. I then had to go to my wireless router. Port forwarding had been set up but upnp service was disabled by default. Once i enabled it, the router began showing the active port forwards (all from splashtop), and the 4G connection became active. Hpe this helps someone else.
@Adam, thanks for sharing!
Others, we have found that Verizon and possibly other carriers are not supporting the gtalk network again. In this case, our internet discovery is not able to connect. A work around for this is port forwarding. Please take a look at this article: http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/514213-how-do-i-connect... (Requires some technical know-how...)
The port forwarding worked perfectly for me so I am currently up and running, thanks to Victor.
verizon samsung droid charge, when i try to connect i see the 4g/lte (or 3g, i forced cdma mode to see if it was LTE specific) data status indicator disappear and then come back after a few seconds, as if the cellular modem crashes
FWIW, discovery DOES work. it finds my pc every time, regardless of what network i'm on ( i even used a verizon 4g usb to remove the 'routing' component. It is the connection attempt that crashes the modem
@Victor, I followed the instructions per your link but I'm still only able to connect via wi-fi. It does not work over 4g. I am on Verizon. Since I am on Verizon, does that mean it will not work over 4g since they are not supporting the gtalk network anymore?
I'm on the Razr running gingerbread and get repeated connects/disconnects when attempting to connect to a puter signed up for the auto internet locate. If I type in my IP of the router and use DMZ, I get a connection without any trouble. Of course, I don't have a wan static IP so this will be an issue. I'd love to use the internet locate feature, but it seems to only work if I'm on a wifi network. The 3/4G radio just drops out otherwise.
On 4G (or 3G), my Bionic discovers my PC but fails to connect as described by many above. On attempting to connect, discovery status keeps toggling between "found automatically" and "could not reach". Everything works fine via WiFi.
When I use my Bionic as a hotspot using 4G, Splashtop works fine on my iPad via the Bionic hotspot.
On 4G (or 3G), my Xoom (verizon) discovers my PC but fails to connect as described by many above. On attempting to connect, discovery status keeps toggling between "found automatically" and "could not reach". Everything works fine via WiFi.
I am using a Verizon Galaxy Nexus that works great using splashtop over a wifi connection. When I try 3G or 4G it will connect and I can see my home pc's desktop but don't have any control when clicking things and I get disconnected after a couple of minutes. Cant wait until this gets resolved.
Moto XOOM, 4G\3G, not connecting. Droid X using 3G is working. XOOM will connect on WiFi though...please help
Motorola Droid Razr Maxx using Verizon 4G will not connect. What is the resolution?
I am having the same problem with my Droid Razr on Verizon. Connects with wifi but not over 3G/4G. It appears from the previous comments dating back 6 months that the devs are not addressing the problem.
I have a Droid Bionic (Verizon) and a MacBook Pro (Mac OS X Version 10.7.3). I can always find my computer on my phone regardless of what network I am on, but I can only connect to it if I am on the same wifi connection as the computer. If I try to connect via a different internet connection or 3G/4G, I get a "Connection Failed" notice. I have enabled port forwarding on my router for other applications and they seem to work fine.
I have a Droid Bionic on Verizon, and also can connect on the local network, but not over 3g or 4g. It seems like this have been a problem for quite awhile at this point-- is there a resolution coming for this issue? Being able to access the information on my phone from anywhere is why I purchased SplashTop. Please help!
Ok, so I made an account just to let you guys know the only things that helped me resolve this issue. Firstly I had to forward the ports indicated on the Advanced Settings tab of the streamer program on my home pc. The other thing I did was go online and google, 'what's my ip' it spat back an ip address that the internet saw my computer at. Then inside the remote version of the program I had to click the + sign and add that ip address as a remote server to connect to. I have no idea why, but trying to use the easy way of just typing in my gmail account would not work no matter what. It would say discovered then never connect. The only thing I can think of is on the home version it always showed the local ip address 192.whatever and maybe it was reporting that ip to any remotes trying to connect. By using the manual way it allowed me to connect with 3 different devices, (my phone, my girlfriend's ipad and phone). Hope this helps!
Hi all,
This issue will be fixed in our next new update, please stay tuned. It's coming soon!
I have been waiting for months to use Splashtop Remote but it still will not work on the Verizon 4G or 3G network with my Droid Razr. I can connect to my PC when I am on any WIFI network, but when I try to use Splashtop remote on Verizon 4G or 3G network, Splashtop finds my computer with no problem but as it tries to connect the 4G or 3G icon on my phone turns from blue to white indicating the cellular data has stopped working and it never connects. I now have to use Polkast to access my files, but would prefer to use Splashtop remote. You said in the comment above that this issue will be fixed in the new update and that is is coming soon. Could you please give me any idea as to an approximate date it will be out? It is really frustrating to have such a useful app and not be able to use it. As long as this has been an issue I can't believe that it has not been fixed already. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Ditto the above above problem as described by Mike Barnett, (June 15, 2012 09:26), on my Moto Droid4 on Verizon which is effectively the Droid Razr with the QWERTY keyboard. I have tried the work around(s) of the port forwarding and tweaking the Norton 360 on my desktops to no avail. I am also anxious to have this issue resolved. Please do what you can to resolve this forthwith.
Here is my interesting story:
--As of today I updated all my computers to the latest Streamer.
--Can connect great on my internal wireless network from my phone only if wifi is turned on.
--Cannot connect to computers from phone (Driod RazrMaxx) over 4G LTE Verizon.
--Enabled port forwarding on my router have static DNS as well as static internal IPs still cannot connect.
--I decide to fire up my mobile hotspot on my phone to test the iPad Splashtop app over an external 4G connection.
--Connect my iPad2 to my mobile hotspot 4G LTE Verizon and Splashtop works like a champ.
So using the same 4G LTE connection I cannot connect directly from the app with my phone but I can connect through the same 4G connection with my iPad2 with no issue. One thing I did notice while trying to connect from the phone app is that I could see all of my computers online however when I tried to connect I continuously lost my 4G connection after a few seconds of the app trying to connect to my computers.
Well, I just got the notice to update to Splashtop Streamer 2 and I did that but STILL doesn't work with Verizon mobile phone over 3g or 4G. Will there EVER be an update so your customers can actually use their Verizon phones to connect to their desktop via 3G or 4G?? That is why I got this app in the first place. If it is an issue that cannot be resolved or you aren't going to resolve it just be honest about it and tell us and we will quit hoping for a resolution. Thank you.
Have any of you guys tried my above fix? Two of the guys I work with are also on Verizon like myself and using the app with their connect by IP works for us. Its the connect to gmail that doesn't seem to work. Well, it does work, but it only reports your local IP behind your router so it tries to connect to an IP that can't be reached beyond your home network.
The problem as I see it is that the 3G or 4G connection somehow gets killed as soon as a connection to the streamer is made. Is there something about how the Android remote desktop client is programmed that conflicts with the 3G/4G receiver when it starts up?
Using the direct IP connect the program has no issues on my droid Charge. If you are still trying to connect by the 'easy' method of gmail account connection its trying to connect via a local IP 192.whatever that your router is broadcasting so your phone might be trying to turn off mobile data and attempting to connect to the wifi for some reason.
I configured for the fix mentioned above Jake and I was finally able to get everything woking after turning off discovery and setting up the client correctly. A lot of this info is found in different support areas but here is my specific setup in case its beneficial to anyone else:
--I had 3 systems I wanted to connect to. 1 Windows 7 laptop and 2 iMacs
--Made sure each system is running the latest Streamer.
--I logged out of my Gmail account under the "Advanced" tab on each client
--Since I wanted to connect to 3 computers I had to have each client configured for consecutive ports. In the "Advanced tab--->Port "on the client I set it up like this for my three computers (system1=6783, system2=7783, system3=8783)
--All 3 port ranges are set up for forwarding in my router. In my router there are three separate entries for each system under "Port Range Forwarding" and routing their respective ports to their internal IPs. Example entry for System1:
Starting port 6783 Ending Port 6785 Protocol "Both" To IP Address 192.168.1.129
The entry for System2 would start with 7783 and so on....
--I added the 3 computers manually on the Android client. Input the external IP of your router into the IP/DNS text box. Input the Security Code. Input the correct port for the correct client name. I stuck with 1024x768 resolution for all pcs.
Of course all of this works great as long as you have a static DNS and internal IPs. Otherwise a router reboot could impact it all. It's a bit of pain but it's working. It wouldn't be so painful I guess if I didn't have my iPad to compare it to. The iPad client works great. No manual intervention at all.
@ Jason, who is your ISP? I have Charter and the only port that is supported/open, (through Charter), seems to be 6783. I have checked a range of others and nothing, with the exception of the one in double digits I am using for a security DVR for remote access to cameras.
I have Time Warner. It's odd that an ISP would discriminate against ports for a specific app. Have you done the following to be certain other ports do not work?:
1. Set port to 7783 (not the default 6783) on the Streamer client on your DVR under the Advanced Tab.
2. Set up port forwarding for range 7783-7785 Both TCP and UDP to your DVRs specific IP on your router.
3. Manually set up/add your DVR on your Phone app. Be sure to include correct port 7783, the internet facing IP of your router, password, etc.
If you don't get a "Connection Failed" error and only a black screen that most likely means you have a resolution issue and will need to change it.
The workarounds are interesting but a "fail" for Splashtop if necessary.
Thank you Serafin! I was wondering if I was the only one who got that. Let's see...you pay for the Splashtop Remote app and expect it to ACTUALLY WORK but NO. Now you have to swap ports, reconfigure your router, manually do this or that and maybe, just maybe if you keep your fingers crossed it works like it was supposed to all along. Thanks Splashtop, but no thanks. I use Polkast and although I can't actually "see" my desktop with that app, at least I can access all of my files on my desktop remotely anytime I need them. Too bad you guys can't make your app do what it is actually supposed to do, at least for us Verizon customers anyway. It is a really good app, IF it would work remotely on Verizon's 3G or 4G network.
Hi all,
If you are using Splashtop 2 on ipad via 3G or 4G pairing with Streamer v2.0.0.4, and still can't work, please check the "status" of AAP(Anywhere Access Pack) from Settings page. Basically, if you are the existing users of Splashtop Remote Desktop for iPad app, you can be automatically upgraded with free AAP(status=no expiration date). Please check this link to know how to?

The problem is, if your HOME network is connected to the net via Verizon 4G the IP address shown is not your real network address ! Verizon passes your data stream through their own router before exiting to the net so to make a long story short that 198. blah blah blah that comes up when you do a "Who Is" is not the actual number shown to the web.
The REAL number shown to the web actually changes every time you re-connect your machine. That's called dynamic addressing. And setting up a Dynamic Host Server will not help, Verizons internal router will negate it's use.
Verizon will "give" you a static IP but it will cost you $500.
The reason it works via wi-fi is because your probably @ home attaching to your local router, which of course can connect to your PC or web cam etc.
If remote access means that much to you or you want to connect to your home video security cams I guess it would pay.
Regards
Ron
My problem is connecting it using my new BBZ10. It finds my computer and will briefly connect but not let me login then it will just shut itself...NOT GOOD.
