Different types of anti-virus products and security software may have different firewall settings, and all them will generally block the connection between Splashtop Streamer and your tablet/phone.  For your convenience, we have started preparing documents for various anti-virus products, which include screenshots and step-by-step instructions on how to allow you to use Splashtop Remote, in conjunction with these products.

If you have installed any of the products listed below, please view the related document for the suggested firewall settings.

If you are using any security software products that are not listed above, which are blocking the connection between Splashtop Remote and your tablet/phone, please let us know.   Our goal is to keep preparing step-by-step documents for these other firewall products also, for a smoother Splashtop Remote experience for everyone.

In addition, if you have already figured out how to set the firewall options successfully in other security products, we welcome you to provide this information about your experiences here, which could provide helpful assistance for other Splashtop Remote users.

@Robert, McCurley,

We are keeping to collect more firewall settings on more software, however, we are sorry we are still not ready for the software you used.

But it's a quick way to directly get support from the vendor of software.

For you CA folks, I figured it out by myself (No thanks to CA whatsoever).

Go to "My Computer"

Click Update settings

Click Program Access

Click Create a New Group (I called my new group "Splashtop")

Add the following programs to this group:

   DataProxy.exe,

   inputserver.exe

   spupnp.exe

   SRFeature.exe

   SRLogin.exe

   SRsendingLog.exe

   SRServer.exe

Set all custom permissions for this group to "Enabled"

I forgot to include that after you Create the new group, you then have to click on "Modify a Group" and click "Add Programs" to add each of the listed program individually.  You don't "type in" the program names, you have to navigate to the splastop installation folder each time, and select each program one by one.  So you have to click "Add Programs" 7 times to all all the ones listed above.

For me, the files were all located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Splashtop\Splashtop Remote\Server

Re CA suite, which version of Windows are those instructions for? I am running XP and when I click on my computer, I can't see anything that includes "Update settings". Would appriciate any help you can give.

Ok, I figured it out. The instructions are for changing the settings from the CA suite program not "my computer". Open the Security suite program, click on My Computer after that the instructions work as stated. I can now connect to my laptop with my Kindle Fire.

Re CA suite;  You are right.  I should have been more specific.  Start at the CA "carousel" with the "Home" tab to the front (as opposed to My Internet, My Files, etc).  With the Home tab to the front, start with the Click Update Settings....

My computer is still using Symantec Antivirus. This must be blocking Splashtop from connecting.

I followed the instructions for Symantec Endpoint protection, and it still doesn't work.  I'm still getting the message, "Your 6783 port is unreachable".  This thing worked the first day I downloaded it, and hasn't worked since.  I have tried uninstalling it, and re-installing it, both on my computer, and my kindle fire...no luck.

@Joe Kilman,

Could you share us which version of Trend Micro are you pointing? As we know, from 2011, Trend Micro removed its firewall and only pointing to Windows firewall. If you are pointing enterprise version, please also give us clear name and version about it, then we can have a study and document. Thanks.

I'm using AVG Free Edition 2012.  There is no firewall setting option under the "tools" drop down menu.  I checked Windows Firewall settings, and several Splashtop applications are listed, and all are indicated as being allowed.  However, I am still unable to connect after the first connection following the initial installation.  Is that not a firewall issue?
