There are many instances when i do not have access to WIFI internet on my blackberry playbook. In such cases most of my apps pull internet from by blackberry data plan on my phone through the blackberry bridge connection established between my phone and tablet. Does Splashtop remote desktop have the ability to do the same ?
If no - please consider bringing this functionality as a feature of this application.

Yes I agree 100%. When I'm at home I've got my wifi all setup and it works perfectly. However, when I'm out of the house, our country has VERY limited wifi in general. I need to use BIS / BES to connect for apps like GeeReader etc.. those apps makes use of BIS / 3G connection. Why can't SplashTop ? I think this should be made a standard feature as soon as possible.
Is there any chance that this is going to be looked at? I agree this would really make this app useful.....
Any input ??
In the description on Blackberry app world (on playbook) it states that you can connect through wifi and 3G/4G. I assumed 3G/4G meant using my phone's 3G through the bridge connection. Apparently not. That is one of the reasons why I bought the app. There are very little wifi connections available when I'm away from home. This is a bit frustrating but will be awesome if it could work with the bridge connection.
Im very glad i read this thread. I was going to purchase the software with the primary intention of using my tethered internet connection through my blackberry to access my desktop. But since it wont work, i might as well wait and see if it becomes supported.
Has anyone accessed a cloud server through their desktop from their playbook?
I feel the same as Otto but I already bought it thinking it would work with all forms of connections, especially my bridge connection. Need this fixed asap for ease of travelling only with the playbook, no laptop
I saw it mentioned in the comments section in the App world link. Is it possible, or not?
Hi all,
Blackberry bridge isn't Network sharing. It uses Bluetootch to access the app in phone. It needs the related app service installed in the phone. So we can't use the bridge.
But we can use the Internet Tethering to share your phone's Internet connection and access the computer using 3G. Go to Setting->Internet Tethering->Select you phone ->Select your 3G carrier->Connect.
After connecting, please use the feature: Internet Discovery . This following link is an official step-by-step tutorial on how to find your computers under different networks with Internet Discovery:

Hi, I too would like to see this feature. Your post saryyin just confuses me. When it's not on wifi but is in bridge it just says there is no internet connection. Can't the splashtop paybook app just connect through bridge like most other BB apps? It would make sense. Your line about ".It needs the related app service installed in the phone. So we can't use the bridge." doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't work that way with any other Playbook app. Surely the splashtop app just needs to talk to bridge to pull the information through 3G, through the phone and onto the playbook. Or have I missed something?
It's a great app as I am disabled and it lets me work on days when I cannot get to the computer. It would be great if it would work seamlessly with BB bridge as well as wifi.
Hi all,
This link may help you to know more for how to tether your PlayBook with your smartphone to share the data connection.

Sorry Jaff,
Maybe there is some confusion?
I think we are all looking to be able to bridge our blackberry to our playbook and use the data connection to access our desktops when we are not around wi-fi. This is not tethering and this is not mobile hotspot, it is a bluetooth 'bridge.
Virtually all of the apps for playbook that use internet can use the bridge connection now, so it would seem odd if it was not possible to use with Splashtop.
Is it possible that this is being looked into for future updates?
Signed,
a pleased Splashtop user and ecstatic Playbook owner
Exactly Caleb thank you for putting it better than I did! In the blackberry sdk and documentation the bridge connectivity seems to be generic code. Apart from perhaps data transfer limitations bluetooth might throw up I can't see why it shouldn't work through bridge.
If the app RDM+ by Shape Services can function over the Bridge then surely Splashtop can do it? Splashtop is faster, sure, but RDM+ works with the Bridge. Please get it to work. I know it can be done. It would definitely add customers as no Bridge is a show stopper for many. Tethering works but can incur more charges and in some BEST environments, tethering is disabled... More reason for Bridge functionality, especially since many business people will be the ones to buy it... On expenses... Get it?
Thanks.. Keep up he good work.
Sorry... That should read BES above and not BEST....
Hi All, Thanks for the encouragement and support! We are looking into this further now and are making progress into understanding the requirements.
That's great to hear Victor, hope you can get it working with Bridge, then I'll be able to work on the train! Top stuff, looking forward to it.
Thank you for considering this improvement!! It would be awesome to get this working via the BB Bridge. Splashtop runs circles around RDM+ except for this one little "glitch". I guarantee if you get this working, my friends at CrackBerry would give Splashtop another front page review. :)
Either way, thank you for developing a spectacular product that blows away the competition!!
Any luck with bridge for Splashtop and Playbook?
@Steve Hudson & all,
This is a known limitation of the Blackberry platform at this time. We are working with Blackberry to support bridging with Splashtop.
it doesnt work with tether or hotspot set on my phone.
Jaff this has been posted here orginaly in Jan. Does it take that long to fix?
Hi all,
Actually, Blackberry is still looking at ways to support Splashtop through bridging. We are also waiting for further response from Blackberry.
Thanks for your patience and understanding!
So you figure another 6 months if they are still in business?
