I totally agree with you. Splashtop should include the option to disable remote control as well as turn off the pc screen - I wouldn't want everyone else beside the PC able to see what I am doing in some situations...

I don't want my PC to be available to ANYONE while I'm using splahtop remote, this makes SPlashtop almost useless when you need to protect sensible data...

I expected the ability to be able to access a locked PC (I.e. Pc that is either locked via screen saver, or has yet to be logged in), similar to the method of accessing a PC via RDP. I would never leave my PC unlocked for the purpose of using this tool, and essentially is preventing me from making use of this tool. Without this capability, I cannot recommend the use of this tool, especially for office use.

@Frank the current version actually does support unlocking a locked PC. User switching is not supported, so you must be the logged in user, but otherwise this should work.

Absolutely, this is needed. The data I work with is HIPAA regulated so I cannot use this app at work because of the lack of this feature.

Definately a needed feature.

Screen should be blanked out and keyboard/mouse disabled upon connection.

Ohhh I posted ages ago in another part of the forum, but a must for me.  I'm a sound engineer so need the app to lock my laptop when I'm not at sound desk so no one can mess around with my PC.  I noted in my post that if I use my phones ability to remote desktop, that automatically locks the Laptop once connected so I can only access my laptop via phone.  If Splashtop eventually does this, then brilliant.  Oh and when or if it does happen, Note you will need to have a logon password already set on your PC/Laptop otherwise it wont work :)

Before purchasing the application, i did some reading on internet and found that there was an Experimental Feature that would allow to lock the PC screen and input. To my surprise, the latest versions (Splashtop Remote Support for iPad v 1.4.0.2 and Splashtop Streamer for Windows v 1.4.5.3), which i purchased and downloaded yesterday, don't have this experimental feature anymore. I am very happy with the application but if i knew that this options was not available anymore, i wouldn't have purchase it just yet. Please add this ASAP. Thank you.

I'd like this feature, but the school I work in will only be able to use the app if it is something you can toggle on and off.

Any update on when this will be implemented? Why it wasn't there from day 1 is beyond me for a remote control app.

Please, please add support to lock the remote session screen and keyboard. The app is perfect and works better than anything out there that  I have tried but the ability to lock the screen while in a remote session is a necessity. Thank you, Dan

I agree... this app is PERFECT except need the ability to lock the remote session screen and keyboard so someone standing around can't see what I'm doing and/or can't control the pc that I'm controlling.  Thanks!!!!

This is definitely a must. The application is excellent but it is almost useless for me as my work computer is not in a protected environment. I hope this will be done urgently!

For me this is a must have too - it is essential that nobody can see my PC monitor whilst I'm remote controlling it (I don't want to somebody viewing what I'm doing or be able to interrupt or change it) - and secondly, when disconnecting splashtop remote client the PC screen should stay locked.

This is pretty standard stuff for remote desktop/VNC.

It's essential and urgently required.. and cannot use this app until this is sorted - wish I had checked the FAQs before buying the app..

(I'm also hoping for linux/ubuntu splashtop server - as that is my main system at home)

@Derek....there already is multiple monitor support. Make sure you update. Tap screen with 3 fingers to bring up some options and you will see it. Really hope that the feature that will lock the host comes out soon. It's been a year since this feature was brought up. This is the only feature that keeps me from using this app more than the logmein app. I like the interface with this one so much more but the fact that the host is not locked when connected really stinks. Oh and the fact that when you switch monitors it uses the hosts resolution it does not alter it to fit better on the iPad 2.

Can someone give us planned date to add this funcionality? I normally use Logmein but because the Ignition price I decided to go with Splashtop. The thing is Logmein has input blocking and black screen option from the begining and now I'm worried about people in my office seeing what I'm doing when I'm connected.

I consider this is a basic functionality and needs to be done asap.

Oh come one. Someone from Splashtop should be able to answer this. They stated that this was a planned feature over a year ago. Are we to think that Splashtop does not care about the people that pay for this app? Just give us an update as this is the only feature that is keeping me from being allowed to use this for work and I really need it. I am stuck using logmein ignition and I don't like the interface...so please give us an update already.

Really love this app. I think it can be the BEST remote app out there if this one feature can be added. But I am losing faith in the company as this has said "planned" for over a year and none of the admin will ever respond and let us know what is going on with this feature.

I would have to agree with the rest of these posts.  Adding screen/keyboard blocking makes Splashtop the best product in the market.  Trust me, I've tried them all.

I figured out how to solve this problem but it involves getting another app. If you have both splashtop and logmein ignition you can do remote access with both of them at the same time without slowing down your connection. I am using a kindle fire, so I open up logmein ignition, which can black out your computer screen and lock the keyboard but has no ability to transmit audio, and connect to my computer remotely. Then I click the home button and launch splashtop, and then connect to my computer through that. Now I am using splashtop, listening to audio, and my screen is blacked and the keyboard is locked. If you disconnect your computer from logmein ignition, the computer reverts back to your password protected login screen.

I just purchased Spashscreen remote and had no idea your software wouldn't do this by default.  Every other utility that remotes does. What's the deal? I want my money back if your going to drag your feet and not get this accomplished..  This is absolutely #1 priority even before your software works (remotes) your programers should have considered this to be a security breach.  Come on!

This is so frustrating. No one from this company has said anything on this topic for over a year but on there Facebook I made a comment about this and they said they are working on it at this time. I have a hard time believing hopefully the feature gets added soon.

Please add this feature. I live in a house full of people and do not need/want everyone seeing what I do when I am at work or whatever. It urkes me that every time I use the ipad to access my PC at home, everyone can see everything I am doing. I have seen other programs that allow the PC screen to be blacked out and am very surprised this program doesn't. I may (probably) have to delete this app because without this feature it is no use to me :(

Hi all,

The latest Windows Streamer v1.7.5.4 starts to support blank screen, welcome to have a try.

However, there're still two known issues there:

1.only apply on the first screen if you have dual monitors

2.mouse or keyboard strokes are still working even in the blind operations

We'll keep improving it.

Hi, it;s really good to have the version 1.7.5.4 released. But I have tried the streaming with flash movie and found that

the movie flash on the screen of the desktop!? The screen is not really blank.

It would be better to have the monitor completed off for the next version, if possible.

Thank you for your improving.

@orange9394,

Thanks for your feedback.

Could you share us what your display card is? ATI? nVidia? ...driver version?

What's the movie format?

These info will efficiently help us to identify the problems. Thanks.

I see that the Mac screen now shows the desktop, with icons, and menubar utilities that are running. Nice, however, it would be great if there was a way to simply black the screen. Feature request.

I am appalled that this "feature" was not implemented from the very beginning! This is not a feature, it's a basic requirement! If I'm away from home and use Splashtop on my iPad to access my PC at home, anyone in my home can access my computer! They can see what I'm currently doing! What If I'm doing personal, private financial stuff like banking or trading, etc???

I need a refund immediately. This is absurd.

I used the 1.7.5.4 version with the screen blank option quite successfully -- not sure what "issues" caused it to be removed -- but having just upgraded to the 1.7.5.6 version I am very disappointed to see it removed.  I am back to using the Syllogithm RDP Client for WebOS - which uses Windows native RDP to host the connection.  If the "blank screen" feature is not added back soon - I will be off Splashtop products for good fairly soon

Love this APP ... except, I have an Apple MacBook Pro at home & want to be able to go in remotely & use it without everyone at home watching my every movement, LOL. It's a great APP, but from a security point of view - virtually worthless. I need to be able to lock out all local functionality & blank out the screen on demand. There are other situations when it is great that both ends can operate & view the MacBook simultaneously.

Please don't make this a standard. If you add it, make it an option. I use it to control my media PC and losing the screen does not let me use the iPad as a trackpad.

Has this issue been resolved within Splashtop Streamer 2? I am keen to use this product within our company but cannot allow this application to be used until the PC screen can be locked when a remote session has been activated!
