IF YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE USER ABOVE, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT AND PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUDIO DEVICE THAT YOU USE. WE ARE AWARE THAT SOME SOUND DEVICES CURRENTLY DO NOT WORK WITH XP, AND WILL TRY TO FIX THIS.
NOTE: Unlike Vista & Windows 7, there is no standardized audio API in Windows XP. We are constantly surveying and exploring for work-arounds and a better solution. Please check back frequently at our website for updates to help improve this.

Same with everybody else!
I have a Dell, which uses Sigmatel Audio.
And of course, all I can find is the options for the MICROPHONE.
I vaguely remember hearing about this guy who used a cable to connect his Microphone Line to his audio line though... Do any of you guys know about this?
And please fix this Splashtop.
These are the lines used for RECORDING:
SigmaTel Audio-Line In
SigmaTel Audio-Microphone
(Well, for me at least)
And these are the lines for PLAYBACK with the Mixer Device "SigamaTel Audio":
Volume Control
Wave
SWSynth
CD Player
Input Monitor
Now of course this isn't the same for everyone. But my computer is definitely a Dell XPS 400. But the only options I see on the SplashTop application on my computer if for recording. I also noticed that there is the option to manually type something in. Is that possible? Is there a feature where you could just simply browse for the right Audio LIne?
Add me to the list. Windows XP, Dell 5150 w/Sigmatel Audio card.
My only options are
SigmaTel Audio-Line In
SigmaTel Audio-Microphone
SigmaTel Audio-Internal Mic
Let me know when it's fixed please.
I downloaded new drivers from Dell (well, ok, they aren't so new LOL) - and it made no difference.
Great product - just wish I could stream from my main Media Center.
No sound. Using HP 64-bit, with Realtek Hi Definition Audio http://www.realtek.com.tw/
Using 5.1 Surround
NO SOUND I M USING Realtek High Definition Audio ON MY XP please HELP THANKS
Audio only works on USB Microphone.
I'm having a similar problem but the audio only plays on a USB Audio Device (see Audio Options.jpg). I currently have SplashTop set to SB X-Fi Audio {EC00}-"What You Hear" (see Audio.jpg). Please note that the USB Audio Device is not available in the SplashTop settings (see Audio.jpg).
No matter what I've done I can seem to get SplashTop to change audio devices.
Operating Systems: Windows XP and Apple iPad
USB Audio Device: Gigaware 1.3-Megapixel Webcam (webcam come on by itself when when accessing my computer with SplashTop)
I have a Dell Dimension E520 with Sigmatel Audio card. I also do not get sound on my iPad. The only options I get to choose in Splashtop are
SigmaTel Audio-Line In
SigmaTel Audio-Microphone
SigmaTel Audio-Internal Mic
None of them work. Please fix this issue. Everything else with Splashtop is beautiful, but sound is what really makes it stand out from other apps. No sound ruins the app.
I can not hear sound on IPAD.
I have Windows XP and I have Realtek High Definition Audio.
Thanks, I await your response.
I can not hear sound on IPAD.
I have Windows XP and I have Realtek High Definition Audio.
Thanks, I await your response.
I have a Dell Precision M6300. Same problem with sound. Only choice I get is Sigma Tel Audio-Line In or Sigma Tel Audio-Microphone.
No sound in ipad. Same problem with Realtek HD Audio. Only input is available from the list
no sound on ipad with win7 32 bit ultimate. do not even get a drop down list to select my soundcard from. no option in setup to configure card :(![]()
no sound on ipad. Dell D630. I have sigmatel audio in, sigmatel mic and sigamtel internal mic option. None of them work. Is there any work around or is this another disappointing app? Be nice if someone from Splash commented here...
User report in ticket:
(posting here for dev team to investigate)
For my particular case I have a Lenovo T-400 laptop and the latest Splashtop software. The audio hardware is "conexant high definition smart audio 221"
The Splashtop settings on the PC server shows the Conexant-HD Mic as the ONLY audio option (instead of audio out or mixer output) so the only audio streaming to the iphone client is the PC mic.
I had some success using the free VAcard software on Windows XP (http://www.datanab.com/audio/VAcard.htm), but unfortunately the sound output only lasts for about a second, and then it's back to the silent treatment :(
I don't have time to investigate further but here's hoping that someone else will succeed :)
(Hardware: Dell machine with SigmaTel audio, Splashtop running on iPad)
Followed instuctions but still not working. PC is Dell Dimension DM051 - Windows XP Media Center Edition - SigmaTel audio.
Audio device options are:
SigmaTel Audio-Line In
SigmaTel Audio-Microphone
SigmaTel Audio-Internal Mic
Splashtop is running on iPhone 3GS
No sound on Ipad.
Audio device options are:
SoundMax HD Audio-Line In
SoundMax HD Audio-Microphone
SoundMAX HDl Audio-Internal Mic
Splashtop is running on Ipad
No sound on my ipad either. Audio device is NVIDIA nForce Audio
Like many others I have Realtek HD, but only the Audio Input settings, no Output ones
I have a lenovo t-400 and also in my systemthe Splashtop settings on the PC server shows the Conexant-HD Mic as the ONLY audio option (instead of audio out or mixer output) so the only audio streaming to the iphone client is the PC mic.
mine is C-Media Wave device - same thing, no sound. I do think it is a bit dishonest to sell a product that actually you know does not work on some PC's. You should warn of this before hand. Connecting to my PC completely slows the whole thing down too.
我的是華碩 F8SR vista系統 使用瑞昱高傳真音效管理 還有 SRS HD Audio Lab
始終無法讓 VISTA 音頻在 ipad 上使用
Have Win7 64Bit same Problem no Sound on Ipad..!! It was working fine before update now software is not usefull for me..
What are you doing every update makes eveything more worth. Damn Password, than cannot switch screens, changing resolution on wrong screen, cutting off features like the quality changer... This Software SUXX now
No audio on my IPod. Am running XP on a Compaq system using native audio (it's whatever sound system Compaq built into the system). I purchased this product BECAUSE IT SAID IT SUPPORTED AUDIO. What your company wrote is "...featuring full video and audio support!" It further says "...optimized for iPHone and iPod touch.." (which I have). How do I go about getting a refund?
I think when you buy an app from the app store it's sold to you "as is", meaning you can't get a refund. I also bought this app because it said it supported audio. By the looks of things, the majority of people don't have audio coming through their ipad, ipod, iphone. Splashtop has acknowledged that it's a problem but it would be nice to hear from their support team regarding any progress that's been made.
Being sold "as is" is one thing...but there is that pesky "truth in advertising" deal. That little statement in their ad about "...featuring full video and audio support!".....has that troublesome word "and" in the middle. I think everyone would interpret that "and" as meaning SplashTop supports full audio support as well as video. I read where they say they've tested common systems....well, you can't get much more common than the RealTek HD board/chip used in HP/Compaq systems. Yet, the only options I am given on my Compaq Line in/Mic in-Stereo Mix. Funny thing though...last night I got about half a second of sound from the iPad...then back to silence.
I had the exact same problem with the only choices in the audio dropdown being basically line in and various microphone options. I have a Dell Latitude D820 running Windows XP Pro SP3 with SigmaTel audio card. It turns out that installing the latest SigmaTel audio drivers for XP from the Dell website (R171789) fixed it. Now I have the choice of selecting SigmaTel Audio-Stereo Mix, which does the trick. And now sound works just fine on my iPad!
I wouldn't have thought to look for new drivers except for someone's comment above, plus sound worked fine on my iPad when connected to my husband's laptop, also running Windows XP and also with SigmaTel audio card, the only difference being his laptop is a couple of years newer than mine, so I figured it probably had new drivers installed!
I Have iMac and iPad2. I am also having problems with sound. Even though I have 'ticked' "When a remote client connects, direct all sound to the client and mute this computer' in the dialogue box. Sound still comes out of computer with little sound coming out of the iPad speaker. (the computer sound is on max)
@Umberto, this forum has to do with XP specific sound problems which are related to the different audio drivers. For Macs, please make sure to install soundflower on the imac, http://code.google.com/p/soundflower/downloads/list?can=2&q=sou...
When notebook and ipad connect , my question is the notebook set mute, but ipad still no sound.
My notebook is HP probook 4321s for windows xp , sound hardware is IDT High-Definition.
Can you help to confirm why not support ? TKS.
xp in vmware with latest vmtools no audio also, all options tried but just a little noise
sound worked before, after upgrade to 1.3.5.4 and 1.3.5.5 it dosn't, using Win XP with realtek drivers
Windows XP: screen and video works perfectly but no sound comes through. Cannot redirect sound to iPad or select an audio output that works (without redirect option which I know mutes).
The only choices I have are
"SigmaTel Audio-Line In"
"SigmaTel Audio-Rear Mic"
"SigmaTel Audio-Mic"
@Hamish, and who got no sounf on xp,
Your audio driver may not support "mixer" function on xp. We provided another work around in this link, you may want to have a try:
http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/301430-how-do-i-make-sound-work-when-connecting-to-a-windows-xp-system
@Sebastian Ek ,
Could you check ipad side if it's been muted from side switch? This link tells some info from Apple:
(Learn about the two functions of iPad's side switch: Screen Rotation Lock and Mute.)

No sound on Ipad. I've done all troubleshooting suggestions on the site, and no, I don't have the MUTE function enabled on my Ipad. I'm using Realtek HD Audio on my computer and Splashtop only gives me audio input options to select. Very disappointing! This is the only reason I bought the app!
no sound on ipad as there aint any device under the drop down field (the audio device dropdown) on the XP splashtop configuration . So I cant even select a device to redirect the sound to my iPad 2.
thanks
I am on Windows 7 Professional with Splashtop v 1.4.0.4. No sound will come through to my iPad, however audio still works on my desktop when connected. Tried the uncheck the "mute this computer" box fix for XP versions; however, there is no drop down menu to select an audio device even though box is unchecked.
Please advise.
Thanks
My problem on xp is that splashtop lists the audo in device (Conexant HD Audio input-Microphone) as the audio out device creating a nice feedback loop.
The laptop is a Lenovo T400 with XP SP 3
I can't get audio on Parallels Desktop 6 running a virtual XP machine
I was having the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 9300 which uses a SigmaTel C-Major built in audio device. I fixed the problem by opening the Volume Control control settings, going to Options, then Properties and checking the "Recording" radio button and pressing okay. I then checked the "Select" box under "Stereo Mix". That got audio outputting to my iPad.
Doesn't work for my dell d820 laptop with sigmatel card either. Screenshot attached. Love the program though, and looking forward to the fix.
no sound either on my xp with sound blaster live! 24-bit. pls get me a workaound solution asap
Hi all,
For xp users, please check this link , if you still get sound on ipad, it may your audio driver doesn't support 'mixer' function, you can reference the workaround in the sane link.

HI, I am using an Acer Travelmate. and the only choices i have are;
"SigmaTel Audio-Line In"
"SigmaTel Audio-Rear Mic"
"SigmaTel Audio-Mic"
I don't get any sound on my Acer Iconia Tablet (Honeycomb). It streams great from my acer laptop but no sound. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,
No audio on XP SP3
SoundMAX HD Audio
I have the same issue with no sound from my dell XPS 400 with sigmatel audio. Thank God i only paid $.99 for this app. Of course, it is my fault for not researching first, but I can see the support for this issue is non existent.
No sound on WinXP. SB X-Fi Audio EC00
Soooo...was quite pumped about snagging the app while it was on sale based on the rave reviews (user + media) but while I'm waiting for the streamer to download I'm browsing through here....
AND I'M A SIGMATEL AUDIO HARDWARE USER TOO! Sooo...should i just delete this now or has anyone had luck with Customer Support's link [http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/301430-how-do-i-make-so...
Hi all,
For xp users, please check this link , if you still get sound on your tablet/phone, it may your audio driver doesn't support 'mixer' function, you can get a workaround in the first comment of this link too.

No sound at all on iPad with OS 4.3.3, using SB Live! 24-bit
Jaff, why do you keep referring us to a link page that apparently was posted back in October? Surely you have some more updated help!
I have version 1.4.5.3, and it has the additional "Internet discovery" option. Does that affect anything? I have a Dell XP 400 (controlled from an iPad2), and my audio options are limited to "SigmaTel Audio-Line In", "SigmaTel Audio-Rear Mic" and "SigmaTel Audio-Mic".
Thanks
I have tried your workaround of connecting audio in/audio out with loop cable. Unchecked forward sound to client, set sound selection to audio in and turned off firewall. Nothing has worked. Fujitsu Lifebook with Realtek AC97 audio, Win XP SP3 and Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tablet.
If you only have the options of Sigmatel Line In, Microphone, then you can create a loop from audio out to audio in (microphone or Line in). If you have external speakers plugged into speaker out this option may not work. First, unplug your external speakers, if this works, then buy an audio splitter. Plug into speaker out. Plug your speakers into one port on splitter. On the other port, plug your audio cable in and loop into Audio In. This should work. This worked great for me. If your sound card is not part of the motherboard, then you will need this work around.
Greg's comment made me look at the speaker setting on my laptop sound card. It was set on stereo laptop speakers. Tried no speakers and headphones. Neither made a difference either with forward to client checked or unchecked. Realtek AC 97 sound
Left a poor review on Marketplace. Doesn't look like they care much what is said here. Maybe Marketplace will matter.
windows xp with splashtop version 1.5.0.1 no dropdown option available to select my audio device from
I was contacted by Splashtop people offering a refund. They tell me that the price of $2.99 that I paid was a sale price, and it's going up to $6.99 soon. Since it was a low price that I paid and there are some other things I can do with this app, I declined the refund. I was unable to give them a better review because there is still no warning on the Marketplace page that there are some configurations that won't work, and they don't have a trial app. 15 minutes is not a reasonable amount of time to download, install and try to troubleshoot a sound problem. I also noted that there were no negative reviews there (including mine). That kind of ticked me off. However, they did offer the refund and did apologize that the current software won't work with my Realtek AC97 sound card.
I installed Splashtop Streamer 1.5.0.1 on my ThinkPad W500 running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3. In the settings screen sound redirect options, the Streamer only detects my Conexant HD Audio Input-Microphone. The Conexant HD Audio Output is not shown in the dropdown menu as an option. I updated my driver to the latest version and reinstalled the Streamer. Same problem.
Windows XP Dell XPS 410 with Sigmatel does not work. The repeatedly linked support suggestion doesn't work either.
I'm using a Via HD sound card on my Windows XP PC and whilst I can get sound from video sources on my Android tablet client I cannot get .mp3 music. Tried the check/uncheck streamer settings but still no joy.
Everyone is having problems with the xp desktop and tablets with no sound!! I dont understand why this is not posted on the market before, Since I have spent hours and hours trying to download updated drivers with still no success. Really good app.. just need audio on my Acer A500. Please give better instructions on how to fix this problem. or post it on market place. thanks
Hi all,
Most XP audio drivers don't support mixer feature, that's the reason why Streamer can't stream audio to your tablet/phone. Here are some suggestions for you to try:
a) Please make sure that the "When a remote client connects, redirect all sound to the client, and mute this computer" checkbox is UN-CHECKED.
b) Select the appropriate audio interface from the drop-down box in the "Remote client should play the same sound as the following PC audio device" field, it should be like "... mixer".
c) A workaround provided at this link for those cases audio driver does not support "mixer" function:
http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/301430-how-do-i-make-sound-work-when-connecting-to-a-windows-xp-system
d) update your audio driver on xp is also a suggestion
e)if you are a Dell computer with Sigmatel audio chip, please check Dell support site for driver update, http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?s=gen&c=us&l=en&cs=...
Sound was working fine on my Windows XP laptop with SigmaTel's latest audio driver. After updating to the latest Splashtop streamer and iPad client, sound is broken on my iPad again. Now all I get is static. Unfortunately I do not know which broke the sound, the latest streamer, or the latest client app.
nevermind... found the problem. SigmaTel Stereo Mix doesn't work properly unless you go into the properties page for Audio Recording (the one with three sliders) and manually check the box for stereo mix. I don't know how my settings got changed but the box for line-in was checked on the advanced properties page even though on the general properties page audio recording was set to stereo mix. And by the way the only way to access the advanced recording properties page is to go to the advanced settings page for playback and then switch to recording from there. The advanced button is disabled on under recording device on the general properties page. Not intuitive at all, but if RECORDING is not set to stereo mix under ADVANCED settings, all you will hear is line-in static (or whatever your recording is set to under advanced recording properties, even you set recording device to stereo mix on the general sound properties page) on your iPad when you use Splashtop Remote.
everything was working fine for me on my asus transformer until the last update. now i have no sound! My asus also had an update so i dont know which one caused the problem. Anyone else had this problem and anyone know how to fix it? my soundcard is realtek ac97 and i have it set to stereo mix.
Same problem as Mark Killen it worked until I installed the latest Streamer. I run XP on my computer have unticked the transfer to remote although that worked before amd have audio set to Stereo Mix. Have tried toggling all options but no sound on IPAD.
No sound on remote desktop on my Laptop and increadibly faint sound on my iPad Remote Desk top with all volume controls maxed out.
Server is a Dell Dimension XPS, Pentium 4 3GHz , 2GB RAM with a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Audio [CCC0] card.
@Thomas,
We are so sorry to cause you this trouble in our v1.5.5.4 Windows streamer, we just released a new update v1.6.0.1, could you have a try on it?
If it's still no sound, you can try this old streamer version v1.5.0.1 from this link, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38993533/Win_Streamer_v1.5.0.1.zip (use 'splashtop' to unzip it)
I've checked your account on our system, it's in a normal state, could you tell us more where you got trouble to open a ticket?
Thanks for your patience.
Okay so I updated my sigma tel drivers, but sound still doesn't work. I then did the headphone/ mic workaround. I got sound but it was really choppy, to the point of being unusable. Are there any other suggestions? Other than a refund?
Windows XP as Server with ATI HDMI Audio does not work. "AMD High Definition Audio Device" does not appear in the selection for audio sources. Latest driver from AMD is installed.
I'm on a Dell XPS 410 with SB X-Fi Audio [CCE0] and have no sound. I have tried everything. The work around everything. I have a logitech camera with built in mic and I can hear when people are in the other room so I can hear sound from that but that is all. What am I doing wrong. I have it set to hear what I hear and box unchecked
No audio for me either:
Windows XP, service pack 3.
Audio is Creative Live! 24-bit
Tried the loop-back cable setup, with no success.
no sound on my Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1
my sound card is NVIDIA High Definition Audio and isnt showing in the list
No sound on my iPad either, I have a Dell xps 410 with Sigma tel audio and no stereo mixer selection to be found anywhere. I have the latest updates for my PC/iPad/Splashtop and still no success.
Hi, I have no sound whatsover being redirected to my iPhone when using the latest version of Splashtop Remote & Server. I'm using XP, with an M-Audio Firewire 410 soundcard.
In the dropdown list for audio devices under advanced settings, there are no options whatsoever for devices...... (see attached image)
Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)
(My PC, Dell with modified Q6600 Quad core, realtek HD & Windows 7 pro)
I tried en-enabling the mixer (You have to un-hide it, Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab > Right click on the
background and choose "show disabled devices." > Right click on Wave Out Mix (Stereo Mix) and click enable) ... No go
Updated to the newest drivers (12-13-11) .. No go
all the other recommendations ... No go
But what did work was ....
(I have an iPad 2 running IOS 5.0)
On the iPad 2 the sound and mute kind-of work separate.
step #2 worked for me!
http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/20392023-why-isn-t-ther...
I hope this helps
Wow, almost two years worth of complaints about this problem and still no fix. Would have been nice to know this before I bought your product *coughfalseadvertisingcough*. No standardized audio API in XP? Have you not heard of DirectSound? It might not be the best option, but it is there on every single XP machine. How about OpenAL? So people might have to install an additional requirement with Splashtop, that's nothing new to XP users. The point is, there are options on XP to work around this and there is no reason that this should still be a problem.
I was running Splashtop with a crappy Audigy LS sound card with no mixer option and for some reason it tried using my web camera's mic by deafault instead, pun intended. The high pitched feedback it caused with my desktop speakers nearly wrecked my Kindle's speakers (thank gawd I wasn't using headphones). After switching to slightly less crappy, on board SoundMax AC97 hardware (less crappy in that it does actually have a mixer option, not in terms of the audio quality produced), I still get no sound in remote sessions, no matter what settings I choose. I want to use my XP machine as a media server (no need for Vista or 7 for that purpose) and I was planning to use Splashtop as an alternative method of streaming content to my kindle, as well as for remotely managing XP as a headless server; at least I can still do half of what I wanted to do, which I guess is appropriate since I did buy Splashtop during a half off sale.
I have Realtek HD audio on two XP computers. One is an HP MEDIA CENTER and the other is a Toshiba Satellite laptop. No sound on either one. Suggestions appreciated.
No audio on droid bionic with windows xp. Tried the mic cord idea but nothing is working. Options are..
SB Live! 24-bit What U hear
SB Live! 24-bit Microphone
SB Live! 24-bit Line-in
SB Live! 24-bit-S/Pdif - in
SB Live! 24-bit Auxillary
Would this be fixed if I updated my sound card? Is there a sound card I could get that would work for sure? Thanks!
Hi all,
We have a new finding about no sound issue on XP, please have a look if you are using Reltek HD audio driver:
If you are using Realtek HD audio driver for XP, this driver will automatically mute audio when Splashtop Streamer is connected. Please confirm your case if Realtek HD Audio Input-Stereo Mixer is selected and Wave channel is unmuted when connected.
(see this link for clear screenshot)
http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/301430-how-do-i-make-sound-work-when-connecting-to-a-windows-xp-system
We'll keep update if we get more further progress for other audio drivers.
I have a Dell Precision 490 with SigmaTel audio. It also mutes the audio on the main computer and does not transfer the sound to my
BlackBerry Playbook. I am running SplashTop V2 on the computer with no difference from V1.7
I also have a Dell DX P051 it uses SB Audigy 2Zs Audio (B8C0) and Windows XP service pack3. Everything else works well but there is no audio. I use both the android app on my phone and ipad app. I don't want to upgrade right now as Windows is in the process of changing versions and we will likely replace the desk top in the next year or so. If there is a workaround I would be grateful.
This fix Works for my Dell computer with Sigma Tel
Opening the Volume Control control settings, going to Options, then Properties, select the "Recording" under "adjust volume for" settings. Select "Stereo Mix" under the "show volume controls for the following" setting. Click OK. You will get a 2 slider volume display and select the box under "Stereo Mix" and slide the voulme control up.
This worked perfectly for my Blackberry Playbook. Hope it helps some others out there
Well, no solution yet. I guess XP has too many varieties to work with this product
I'm using the latest Splashtop software on a Dell XP system, and a BlackBerry PlayBook. I have an IDT Audio card, and the driver supports stereo mixing. I have no sound, whether or not the "Mute this Computer" check box is checked or not.
I downloaded this software specifically to be able to stream music from my computer to my tablet.
I'm extremely disappointed with this product, and would like to see the issue resolved.
