How to turn on video mode in ver 12? I can not find it in Hint. And also I tried to use the original way in ver 11 to turn it on and did not work.

Agree 100%. Where did the Twist Gesture go for switching between video mode and sharp mode?! I use the video mode ALOT for the low latency on the input! Is there a new gesture? Please bring this back!

Hey guys, we had to turn the Video Mode off for now, because it was getting mixed up with the pinch-zoom gesture. We are exploring a new UI to bring it back.
If you are also missing the video mode and want it back, please vote for this suggestion. It would also be great if you could add more information about how you use Splashtop Remote (e.g. for watching online video, or watching DVDs, or games - which ones?, etc). This helps us understand how to best design this. Thanks!

I like to play games like command and conquer that are real time strategy and RPGs like fallout or any games that work with just the mouse. Age of empires, etc...But they needed the low lag/latency that the video mode switch allowed to be smooth.. Now, I can't play those games because the mouse registers too late and the lag just makes it unfun....please bring it back as soon as possible, I only purchased the app after using the demo that proved it worked and had so little latency, if it worked only the way it does now I would not have purchased....please don't take away features just to add others...a simple video mode button on the keyboard would be perfect....

I watch video remotely... mostly Hulu.com when the Hulu Plus app decides it is down or to go to a specific networks website like CBS.com. Please bring back the video mode selection! It made frame rates rock solid when watching video and made the desktop pixel perfect if I had to do something else. Now my desktop is getting lots of artifacts sometimes and other times the video gets choppy.

As a suggestion, an RDP iPad app I use uses three finger swipes and taps for additional options which works really well.

Yeah, i really want the video mode back too, was much better with it. Had i knew that it has been removed with the update i would not have updated ;) Especially since i find the zoom-mode pretty useless, since is doesnt show any more detail, just upscaling.
Or maybe you could increase the fps of the normal mode? But i don't know if its possible because of limitations of the wifi speed/ipad hardware.

I removed V1.2 from my iPad and reinstalled the old version from my iTunes-Library. Luckily it was still there. I don't need the new "features" like zoom but I do need the video mode.

so i've been jumping around between remote desktop app trials trying to find the fastest one, and if there's a mode for this that makes it even faster i'm sold right now. Bring that back! (doesn't need to be a gesture thing imo, don't usually go from browsing to suddenly **** I'm playing league of legends, need faster response!)
I don't actually own the app, but I'm currently looking for something to be able to stream both Hulu/youtube videos, videos off my computers harddrive, and if the app can handle it, games (probably ones like league of legends where the input still makes sense). So far in my search this app looks like my most promising bet, so if you guys are headed in that direction, I'll buy to support!
on a side note: league of legends runs well over this app, but is unplayable due to the slow method for right clicking.

Hi,
I also bought splahtop remote for the great video and audio support.
The remove of the function was not a good decision from the team. Hope next version get the video mode back.
I used the video mode for watching TV which has currently a to low frame rate for being smooth.
If the frame rate could be get up I didn't need the video mode, but the option to switch would be a great addition.

an even more dedicated video mode would be very nice but i also use splash top remote to run my development app (which only runs on a PC) so I can bring it to the conference room, presentation, collaborate with me team, etc. hm...maybe a three finger tap to bring up a master menu where i can control all functions like video mode, switch screens, bring up keyboard, bring up numeric key pad, etc.

I bought this app after looking at the demo video playing video smoothly. Without video mode the videon playback is choppy and there is a lag when you do the mouse commands when playing games. Please fix it

Bring it back but it could easily be a toggle rather than a gesture. I always found the gesture a bit awkward anyways.

Good news! The video mode is back. We added it as a part of the new (Beta!) toolbar interface. Here is how you can turn it on:
1. Within Splashtop Remote, change your computer label to start with Splashtop Beta. For example, "Splashtop Beta My Sony Vaio". This unlocks the beta feature.
2. In session, use a 3-finger tap to bring up the new toolbar interface. There are a few other features there besides the video mode.
The trick with naming your computer "Splashtop Beta XYZ" is temporary while we are testing the new toolbar. We intend to make this a standard feature soon. Let us know whether this works for you. Feel free to either comment in this thread, or in a new forum we created to gather feedback on new beta features:
What was video mode? I use Splashtop exclusively for view videos on my iPad from my MacMini. It works fabulously, as does the zoom feature.

@Bobhasmail: video mode option should appear no matter you connect within home network or manually configured to enable connection from outside.
As informed by Splashtop Support, you'll need to prefix your computer name with "Splashtop Beta" (i.e., if your computer name is "Bob PC", then change it to "Splashtop Beta Bob PC"), then in a connected session, use a 3-finger tap to bring up the new toolbar interface which contains the video mode and among other advanced configurable actions (please make sure you are using v1.2.5.1 of Splashtop Remote for your iPad or iPhone!)
Hope this helps.

p.s. The advanced control toolbar is officially part of v1.3.0 of the Splashtop Remote iPad and iPhone client. No need to go through the Beta steps anymore.
3-finger tap while in the Splashtop Remote session to show/hide the advanced control toolbar.
From the toolbar, click on the appropriate icon to toggle smooth/sharp video mode, switch between multi-displays, toggle show/hide the on-screen arrow pad.

Hello, I am new user of 1.3.0.1 version of a Splashtop remote and have a few questions:
1. what is the advanced control tool bar and how to enable it. Three finger move on the screen out and in, enables me to zoom in and out, but I am not sure that I am grasping the feature of the advanced cotrol tool bar related to the video option.
2. video is in fact my second question. When IPAD takes control over my laptop, using Splashtop, I am able to watch the movies that are on my laptop or simply to stream them directly from URL. However, once I am in Splashtop mode, I am not able to activate AirPlay on IPAD and stream that video from IPAD via Apple TV to my LED TV that is connected with Apple TV via HDMI cable. Would the advanced control toolbar or any other way help activate AirPlay while I am in Splashtop (ie laptop) mode, without naturally disconnecting it by pressing the Home button..
Many thanks in advance

I don't remember ever seeing this in the Android version but I want it! Even if it means using the button menu to enable it I would love a video mode and maybe multiple levels so we can choose the quality/latency ratio. Even if you are working on something more comprehensive, please bring this into the app on the keyboard menu buttons at least for the time being!
