I would love a Linux server too. Actually, if the server were in Java or Mono, it wouldn't be an issue.

I almost bought it but thought I would check if it supported Ubuntu first, glad I did.

Another vote for an ubuntu verison please :D

I'm running ubunto as a sideloading OS on an android tablet which I have to go into via vnc, splashtop would  be much better as it usually seems a lot quicker than standard VNC connections.

Linux is my main system, I was hoping to use Splashtop to remote control it on iPad - quite dissapointed to find out that a streamer/server is required to be able to remote control (although I understand why it's required to improve the experience/controls) - and that it's only available for Mac and Windoze.

I'm running Ubuntu in 'Classic' mode.

Since all my PC's run Ubuntu or Linux MInt, I would love to see this.

A Linux version of streamer is a MUST !!!

As there's already an OSX version this shouldn't be to complex.
And as you're not charging for the streamer part - why don't you just OpenSource it while licensing/charging for ALL clients ? I'm sure it would rock.

Yup, bought the iPad app, worked great with windows. Can understand cost/complexity might not be worth it for you to get it working with ubuntu... But it'd be much appreciated. I too have switched to ubuntu as main desktop OS and so apparently so have the other guys in my house. Can't get cheaper than free..

A lot of people use Linux as their Home Theatre PC (HTPC), and Splashtop (Touchpad especially) would be useful as a lounge room keyboard/mouse replacement. That's what I came looking for. Please make it for us, thanks.

When will the streamer/client for Linux be out? I think it is long overdue, when you have Mac and Windows versions for quite a while? Ubuntu is my primary OS for home use. And I would love to be able to use Splashtop on it. I kmow there are rdp and vnc solutions for Linux machines, but I like splashtop on my iphone, android tablet and windows machine very much. Why not on Linux, too?

Add me to the "I want a Splashtop Streamer for Linux" crowd. I also use Ubuntu as my main OS at home. I use an Android Honeycomb (soon to be ICS) tablet with Splashtop HD. So far on my Windows implementation I find that its the best RDP like solution. I use Mocha VNC to connect to my Linux desktop (and Dyn DNS versus Google sign in to connect to both remotely.) Splashtop is so smooth and flawless.

Right now my box is a Ubuntu 11.10/Windows 7 dual boot, but Ubuntu is the default OS in my Grub bootloader. I can Wake on Lan with my tablet, but can only get to the default OS. Which means I either have to switch my default OS in Grub to Windows (which I don't want to do) or figure out a way to control the bootloader remotely (which I'm not sure how to do) or wait until Splashtop codes a streamer for Linux (which I would like very much!)

shame that a Linux based OS cannot connect to another Linux based OS, It's like some sort of sad joke...I would love to buy your product but I run Linux exclusively on my main box at home.

I switched from Windows to Linux and now I miss Splashtop very much. None of the existing remote access tools does good job on linux. I am for adding support for Linux too ( I'm using Fedora) from Android devices.

my personal and business are both linux, ubuntu and mint.  I do use windows for adobe stuff. but linux for the rest of the world.  and I dream that soon linux will be able to run the adobe CS5x so then no reason for mac or windows.  Really though I use them all.

Please release a  server for Linux. Splashtop and Android are both Linux based, should not be much of a problem to release a Linux server. You will gain a customer if the remote server is released for Linux.

I use splashtop in windows and I feel very satisfied

I'm using ubuntu linux too for watching movies in xbmc, so it would be so much great if the developers start developing linux-version splashtop server and put all the function like windows-version splashtop server

Sorry for bad english

Thx

I would also like to put in a vote for this. It doesn't need to be open source if you are worried about the proprietary software. This software is so much more useful than any of the other remote desktops because of the hardware acceleration; I would love to be able to control my desktop with it. Also, as a point of note, although Linux users may represent a smallish percentage of the desktop users, I would imagine that the percentage of Linux users that know and would be willing to setup a remote desktop is much higher than for PC or Mac (Note this is not meant to be a criticism of either Mac or Windows users). Just a thought.
