This topic provides reference information for setup of port forwarding, to connect from outside. This reference tutorial uses Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router (WRT54G) as an example.
Feel free to check the following community-contributed references to configure port forwarding on your home wireless router:
If your wireless router is not listed, you may also want to check out the common configuration among other wireless routers, and it should assist you in setting up your home wireless router.
Step 1: Identify your home computer and home wireless router's local IP addresses.

Step 2: Connect to your home wireless router.
With a computer connected to your home wireless router, open up your favorite browser and in the Address Bar, type your wireless router's IP address as you found it in Step 1.

Step 3: Provide your login credentials to your home wireless router.

NOTE: The default login credential for Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router is: admin / admin.
Step 4: Navigate to the "Applications & Gaming — Port Range Forward" page of your home wireless router.

Step 5: Enter the details required for setting up port forwarding.

Here are the details (in written text):
NOTE: Splashtop Remote uses three consecutive ports (6783, 6784, and 6785) by default.
Step 6: Once you have completed all entries, click on Save Settings and you will be prompted with the following:

NOTE: For additional computers you want to connect with, repeat Steps 4-6, but they need to use different consecutive port numbers, such as "6883 6884 6885" (i.e., in the Start column: "6883" and End column: "6885"). Remember to set the server and client to these ports as well.
Step 7: Obtain your external IP address of your wireless router.
Navigate to the Status page of your wireless router. Write down the external IP address of your wireless router which can be found under the Internet section. It should NOT start with "192" or "10."

NOTE: You may need to configure port forwarding through your Cable or DSL modem and any additional routers if the wireless router does not have an external IP address (i.e., an IP address that does not start with "192" or "10"). If your IP address shows either "192" or "10" and needs to identify the external IP address, then you can use http://www.whatismyip.com/ from a browser on your computer.
Step 8: Moving to the tablet/phone app: Create an entry on your client by clicking the "+" button near the upper left corner of the Splashtop Remote client.

Step 9: Add a computer by specifying the "external" IP address to reach this computer.
CAUTION: Make sure to use the external IP address from Step 7. This is where you can enter your DynDNS address instead of the external IP address, if you have it set up.
NOTE: Your external IP address may change, and you will need to update this entry if it does.
Step 10: Specify the port numbers to connect to the computer.
You only need to specify the "Start" port number as you specified in Step 5 and the Splashtop Remote client app will use 6783 as a default.
NOTE: For additional computers you want to connect with, repeat Steps 8-10.
