Is the Windows 7 64-bit operating system supported? I installed the Splashtop Remote Streamer application on my Win 7 32-bit computer with no problem, but installation stalled on the 64-bit version.

Yes, both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 are supported. Before attempting to install the Splashtop Remote Streamer application on a computer running Windows 7 64-bit, we recommend that you do the following. In addition, if you already tried to install, and the installation process seemed to stall on your Win 7 64-bit computer, please un-install it before trying the following:

  • Before attempting to install, disable UAC (User Account Control) in Windows 7.  If you need information on how to do this, you can refer to the Microsoft Genuine Knowledge Base article at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975787.
  • Also make sure your Windows 7 user account is in the Administrator group before you start the installation.

I am having problems installing Splashtop Remote on Windows 7 Home 64-bit. After installation, the pop up console does not start after I click the Splashtop Remote icon and there isn't an icon in the system tray. I have UAC disabled and my user is an Administrator.

    Hi Robert,

Could you confirm that you are installing Splashtop Remote on your Windows PC locally, and not through an RDP session? There is a known issue with RDP not allowing interactive services, which blocks our service from running.

I´m having the exact same problem Dawson described. I also have Windows 7 64 bits, I disabled UAC, but the installer stops responding about half way the installation process, so I have to kill the process on Windows program manager.

    Please help.

Update on Hp Dv7, Win7 Ultimate, 64 bit. UAC disabled -- I reformatted my laptop (I know, I know, very drastic). Loaded the plethora of Microsoft updates. Finally installed Splashtop remote without any problems. I'm glad I did. Splashtop is awesome.

I signed up to note that this is an issue for me as well. The installer hangs halfway through. I tried with and without UAC enabled.

Ok, I am almost 100% there after wrestling with port forwarding this morning.  I am working remotely now without a problem.  However, once I connect my iPad with my HP back home my bluetooth wireless keyboard no longer works with the iPad.  I was messing around with different keys and accidentlly got it to work but now I can't.  Also, once I close down the session it can't be started again remotely???  That isn't good.  There has to be a way to close up the iPad and come back later and start working remotely again without having to start the session on my home host again.

Thanks, I will be your biggest fan once I get these issues fixed!!!

    Please try suggestions below:

    -  If there is any 3rd party anti-virus software installed on your pc, please check if it blocks Streamer installation(especially if you're using "Kaspersky" software)

    - If you have installed "Airfoil", Streamer installer will be blocked and may hang while installing. The solution is to uninstall Airfoil, then install STR again or add STR install.exe to the "exclude" list under Airfoil's Automatic Hijack settings.

    -  Open Task Manager - enable all processes from all users, try to kill the SRServer.exe, SRService processes(if has) and install again

Ah hah!!!  I have since reformatted, but I *DID* have Airfoil installed when I encountered the installation problem.  Good catch.  Splashtop rocks!  I use it every day.

Thanks Kelly, that was it. I had Airfoil installed and following your suggestion helped out. Strange connection between those two, when I opened Splashtop for the first time (having uninstalled Airfoil) it did ask for an Airfoil (?) dll file, but did start normally after I had reinstalled Airfoil. Odd, but now it works.

Should all this work really be necessary for this program to work? Why can't you just install and have it work like most programs? I'm completely irritated that I paid money for nothing. This is crap.

Just wish i would have installed on pc before i spent the 5 bucks for the ipad.  You are talking so over my head and I have no way to know how to fix this issue on the pc.  If it is such a problem why doesn't splashtop fix at their end.  Not everyone is a computer wizz and knows what rd? is.  I will ask intunes for refund.  I give up after hours of installing and uninstalling.  my admin is at the lowest setting so that isn't my issue.  Nothing should be this hard.

    @SHERRI WHITE ,

Sorry about the problem you encountered.

Have you read this link for some possible reasons for installation issues?

    http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/20324736-issues-during-or-after-installation-of-the-splashtop-remote-streamer

If you still can't install Splashtop Streamer, and want a refund, the following info should be helpful. (it's totally handled by Apple)

1.To begin the process of requesting a refund from the iTunes store, you will need to first open iTunes.
2.Navigate to your purchase history by clicking "Store">"View My Account">>"Purchase History."
3.Inside your Purchase History page, select "Report a Problem."
4.In the window that opens up to report your problem, describe your reason for requesting a refund. Be very polite and very detailed as to why you are requesting a refund and what exactly it is for.
5.That's it! Apple customer service should usually respond to you within 48 hours and let you know if your request has been granted.

NO, it's NOT working here.  It does install, but then when launched all I get is a small notification icon next to the clock that sais "SpashTop Streamer - Pronto" (Pronto is italian for READY).  I click, double click and right click on that icon and NOTHIN HAPPENS. I cannot configure the streamer in no possible way. Then I try to run the program from the start menu and I get NOTHING. Nothing happens.... literally apart the fact that I've now got several SplashTop Streamer tasks running but none seems to be working.

That's a real pity. I can't even get to configure the stuff and It looks like I am the only one with this issue.
