Basic THD Manual

Basics

  • Review Basic Remote Manual first: http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/21227753-basic-remote-manual

Modes

Splashtop THD has 2 modes: Remote Desktop mode and Gaming mode.  The Remote Desktop mode provides the controls/gestures best suited for normal remote desktop.  The gaming mode is for providing special interfaces while playing games.

Desktop Mode

By default, you are in desktop mode after connecting.  All controls and gestures are those of the Splashtop Remote app.  http://support-remote.splashtop.com/forums/389128-useful-gestures

Gaming Mode

To enter this mode, execute a 3-finger tap, then tap on the left-most icon in the menu.  Once in gaming mode, a 3-finger tap will provide a menu to return to desktop mode or to chose a game profile.  The game profile provides a virtual gamepad as well as mappings to support a USB controller or mouse if the game profile has this built into it.

3-finger tap menu options:

  • Return to desktop mode
  • Game Profiles
    • Skyrim
    • Others (coming)
  • Hide/show virtual gamepad (coming)
    • To hide virtual gamepad today, can tap on the "back" arrow icon at the bottom left corner of the screen
  • Gyroscope enable/disable (coming)

Performance

Besides having purchased Splashtop THD, to get the best performance, you need to have a performance system running Splashtop Streamer.  At this time, we have optimized code which utilizes the NVidia GEForce graphics card.  Please see this article on the requirements to have "GEForce Optimized" performance: http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/20169946-optimized-for-geforce

For full screen support of games, you will need to have the GEForce graphics card mentioned above; otherwise, you may play the games in full screen windowed mode.  Details here: http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/21074486-i-want-to-be-able-to-run-skyrim-with-thd-in-full-screen-mode

How do I know if I am optimized? Will there be a message displayed or do I just have to guess? Also, this app works great on the Advent Vega so you can update your list.

Splashtop is looking into Gamepad support for iOS devices - no schedule yet though...

@Darren, for NVidia optimized, you will see an "optimized for NVidia" logo on the streamer application running on your computer.

Wondering about NUM PAD support. Right now, THD/WoW does NOT have NUM PAD KEYS. but i need these for shapeshifting. Even if iPAD doesn't support these, certainly the game would recognize these keys. Can't Splashtop just build those in specially? Why does it have to use the iPad keyboard ONLY? Obviously I am not a programmer. But I am trying to avoid having to change keybindings i have had for about 7 years.
