How do I connect to my computer for the first time?

en10092003

Once you have installed and started Splashtop Remote Streamer on your computer, you can launch Splashtop Remote on your iPad, and your computer should automatically show up in the list of available computers. This step may take up to half a minute, depending on your network. Simply tap the name (or icon) of the computer in the list to which you want to connect. You will be prompted for your password. You can later store it so that you do not need to enter it every time. To do that, click on the arrow button settings-button-in-added-listing.png next to the computer name before initiating a connection.

The first time you remote-connect, a Hints screen will display, telling you what gestures can be used during the Splashtop Remote session. After you close the Hints screen, you will see that the remote screen is now mirrored to your iPad screen. You can control the remote computer and interact with it. Everything you do on the iPad screen will be mirrored to the remote computer screen, or vice-versa. The sound will be muted on the computer, and will only play on the iPad.

Same here Jason, it's not picking up my computer via ipad. Splashtop isn't firewalled so I'm not sure why it's not connecting. I tried to connect at home via my wifi and nothing either. Now what?

First time I tried with iPad on 3.2 OS it worked fine except that the PC screen went to Ipad resolution which wasn't satisfactory. I opened a ticket and was told that this would be fixed, and it apparently has though I have moved to iPad OS 4.2.1.

However since the first time, even though the PC reports it is controlled by the IPad, the iPad screen remains black after the hints screen is dismissed, and I only get a white cursor arrow which moves whenever I touch the iPad or the PC mouse.

I have opened a ticket but no useful solution so far!

Check all your firewalls like antivirus, router, and windows firewalls. Make sure they allow splashtop. That is what isn't allowing your iPad to detect.

Any chance you can do port tunnuling through port 80 to help your users avoid all the port forwarding issues. we did this with our Java internet application and all the port forwarding support questions we were getting suddenly went away.

I've got the same issue here.

    1) had to manually add the computer (it wasn't showing up on it's own)

    2) made sure that the Splashtop port was not firewalled (nor is the IP address of my iPad)

    3) I've re-started the product, my internet multiple times.

    4) I keep getting an alert that says my iPad is in control, but all I get on the iPad is a black screen - with the words "cannot connect" and S=03  E=84000101 in the lower left corner.

    help!  thanks

Not sure if this is forum for my problem. I have IPhone 3GS. Loaded App, downloaded Splastop DT for Win 7. My IP address for my DT was there. Launched DT software.

I used the same pass word for IPhoneand DT.

On my IPhone, Splashtop Remote says "cound not reach 192.1xx.x.xxx the IP address I manually entered (since Spl. Remote did not recognize it automatically).

My PC is on on an ethernet home network.

Any suggestions on how to use this promising Application?

    Thanks

It's not working for me and my iPhone4. Running XP SP3 and a DSL WiFi connection.

Network is secure, but iPhone otherwise has no problems connecting with it for other apps.

Is there a way to check settings and tweak something? Worst case - is there a way to uninstall from PC and iPhone and get my $ back?

    Thx, Ken

I currently have two macbookpros connected to splashtop on my ipad. One of the two laptops has a boot camp partition. Starting up in Windows, I installed the Splashtop for windows desktop application. After installing, I tried to connect to the ipad. It did not work. The IP seems to be the same whether in Mac or Windows. On the Mac side it works, not while in boot camp/ Windows XP Pro. Any suggestions?

My iPad will not pick up my home computer. I tried adding my computer myself but it asks me for an IP address. I've entered what I believe it to be and it still just says "cannot church to your computer". Now what?

I've downloaded splash top on pc and app on iPad but it doesn't find it. Also added it manually and turned off pc firewall but still no joy. Feeling ripped off at the moment! Is there any support for this? I see a lot of similar problems from others but no answers. The support seems quite poor.

    Splashtop Support

    Hi All,

Here are the most common problems with connecting for the 1st time.  If you still have issues please open a ticket to get support:

    Installation:

    1.       Uninstall then re-download then install, sometimes the downloaded file is corrupt

    2.       Make sure to run as administrator

    3.       Make sure to turn off UAC

    4.       Here is a reference video: http://support.splashtopremote.com/entries/352679-basic-installation

     Connection:

    1.       Are both the PC and the iPad on the same WiFi network?

    2.       Did you install the server application on the PC?  http://www.splashtop.com/remote/download?from=product

    3.       Open firewall ports: 6783, 6784, and 6785 (different if user changes)

    4.       Firewall Tutorial Video:  http://support.splashtopremote.com/entries/354334-firewall-settings-for-splashtop-remote

    5.       Check if gdiserver process died and restart
